Meghan Markle showed off her fashion prowess once again last night when she stepped out alone to a glitzy launch party for her latest investment.

The Duchess of Sussex, 43, put on a glamorous display in a sleeveless, sweetheart-neckline black jumpsuit and wide-leg pants while supporting her friend and A-list hairstylist Kadi Lee in Venice, California.

Posing up a storm at celebrity-loved restaurant Gjelina, the couple were celebrating the launch of Kadi’s new Highbrow Hippie hair wellness range, which Meghan has invested in.

“Kadi has mastered hair health and her Highbrow Hippie collection is a perfect reflection of that,” Meghan said. Fashionable. “I am very proud to invest in her as a friend and as a founder.”

The hairdresser’s other famous clients include Oscar-winning actress Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt and Sigourney Weaver.

She runs the ‘Highbrow Hippie’ salon in the bohemian Venice neighborhood of Los Angeles and has often posted on social media about dying Meghan’s hair.

The salon was founded by friends Myka Harris and Kadi in 2019 following the success of their shared blog.

Their website, which also reveals the owners’ zodiac signs, says: ‘Highbrow Hippie was created to fill a void. Our goal is to expand the definition of a salon and return to its historical meaning: a meeting place to exchange thoughts and ideas.

‘Create a sense of community, self-care and a way to leave school for a few hours and focus on yourself.

‘Our intention is to refocus on self-care, community and experience. What works best for our clients is always most important and we hope people leave feeling inspired, connected, grounded and perhaps having learned something new, whether about themselves or someone else.

“These small steps and attention to detail equal an enormous amount of luxury in today’s fast-paced, overly connected world.”

Your collection will include Root Replenish Active Growth Serum ($88.00) and Essential Wellbeing Complex Supplement ($118.00) to start.

While Kadi doesn’t have her own Instagram, the stylist often shares posts from the salon’s Highbrow Hippie account, including snaps of her attending BLM marches.

She previously worked at the Aveda Institute in New York, as well as being a stylist and often blogs about her life. including posts about ‘aligning your period with the moon’ and details on how she dyes celebrities’ hair.

In addition to being a hair salon, Myka and Kadi’s brand also promotes “mindful living” and sells smokeless incense, California olive oil, Mason Pearson hairbrushes and magnesium dietary supplements.

In 2020, the couple also attended a BLM march and noted that it is the only Black-owned business on their street.

They captioned the post: ‘Where are the others?’ If we were to make an educated guess, the lack of presence is due to the myriad of systemic obstacles that begin with a lack of access to capital.

‘Black women start businesses at 4x the rate of everyone else and get the least funding – the most people in the room, yet the fewest dollars. To be exact, a pitiful 0.34% of the total venture capital was spent. Make that make sense.’

Last month, Myka took aim at ‘selfish’ Taylor Swift in a passionate Instagram post after the star officially endorsed Kamala Harris for US president following her first live debate against Donald Trump.

The caption read: ‘Am I the only one who wasn’t interested in the timing of this Taylor Swift endorsement? Happy to have her supported, but found her timing lacking in taste and thoughtfulness.

“I couldn’t even let 30 minutes pass of Kamala Harris dominating the news after one of the biggest nights of her life before jumping into being a part of the story.

‘I found him selfish and inconsiderate. The same support today or tomorrow would have produced the same impact. Let her have her moment. “It was a big one.”

In May 2023, the salon revealed that Meghan had booked a hair color session with Kadi ahead of the Women of Vision Awards in New York.

Delving into the Duchess’ treatment, Kadi, who charges $550 for the full Balayage, hinted that Meghan goes to the salon for regular shine treatments to maintain the health of her hair.

She wrote in the caption: ‘There’s nothing like a rich, warm brunette. For this tone, first the hair is painted gently and thinly, slightly from the roots, being careful not to lighten more than 3 tones of the natural color.

‘Layers of gloss are then applied and left on for a minimum of 15 to 20 minutes for maximum saturation, shine and permanence. The result is a reflective tan with natural movement.

‘The key here is to avoid that obvious highlighted look and let others wonder if the end result could, in fact, be your natural hair color. As the warm season progresses, you only need to gently touch up the highlights on the bottom layers (never on the parts) and reapply the gloss every 2 months or as needed.

“This shade is ideal for the warmer months as we enter a low maintenance period where the last thing clients want is to maintain their hair color.”
