Meghan Markle has been criticized for her decision to postpone the release date of her upcoming Netflix show amid the Los Angeles fires.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting the premiere of the Duchess of Sussex’s new cooking series, titled With Love, Meghan, which debuts on January 15.

But now, it has announced that the program has been delayed almost two months in order to “focus on the needs of those affected by the bushfires.”

The long-awaited series will now be out on March 4.

“I am grateful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the release, while we focus on the needs of those affected by the wildfires in my home state of California,” Meghan said in a statement to People magazine on Sunday.

People subsequently took to X, formerly Twitter, to share their thoughts on his decision.

And while some applauded the 43-year-old mother of two, others accused her of doing it just because she didn’t want her show to be ‘overshadowed’.

“She doesn’t want to be upstaged by anything,” one person wrote.

‘How is the broadcast of this entire program focusing your attention?’ someone else questioned. ‘It’s done.’

Meghan said she wanted

Meghan said she wanted to “focus on the needs of those affected by the wildfires in my home state of California,” and people took to X, formerly Twitter, to share their thoughts on her decision.

‘Well, she already filmed and edited that show. It’s not like they’re filming it now… and they didn’t even film it at his house. He’s afraid of negative reactions,” another user suggested.

“Guess Netflix postponed it and Meghan is pretending to be involved in the decision,” a fourth tweet read.

A fifth said: ‘Oh, how magnanimous is your way of thinking of others and doing ‘the right thing’ in SILENCE.’

Others, however, praised Meghan for her decision.

‘Good move. “I feel relieved,” one person wrote.

“First sensible decision he makes,” said another.

Meghan, 43, grew up in Los Angeles and now resides in Montecito with her husband, Prince Harry, and their two children, Archie, five, and Lilibet, three.

It is currently estimated that between 4,000 and 5,000 structures have also been damaged or destroyed, including the homes of Hollywood celebrities.

The Sussexes have joined the victims by donating to relief efforts through their Archewell Foundation and have opened their $29 million Montecito mansion to loved ones who were forced to evacuate.

Earlier this week, Meghan and Harry issued a statement urging people to “check in” on their disabled and elderly neighbors.

On their website, Sussex.com, they said: “In recent days, wildfires in Southern California have ravaged neighborhoods and devastated families, homes, schools, healthcare facilities and much more, affecting tens of thousands of people from all over the world.

‘A state of emergency has been declared. If you feel compelled to help, here are some resources and ideas.’

They posted a link to several charities they had previously worked with and asked their followers to “help those in need.”

They also encouraged people to “open their home” to others affected and to donate to the American Red Cross.

“If a friend, loved one or pet needs to evacuate and you can offer them safe shelter in your home, do so,” the couple continued.

“And be sure to check with disabled or elderly neighbors to see if they need help evacuating.”
