A new trailer for the long-awaited epic drama film Megalopolis, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, was released on Saturday.
In the clip, Caesar Catilina, played by Adam Driver, cautiously steps out of one of the upper windows of a New York City skyscraper and heads toward the ledge.
The driver character then prepares to fall off the edge of the building before shouting “stop time”, after which everything around him suddenly stops.
Catilina steps back towards the skyscraper and snaps his fingers, after which time begins to flow once again.
The driver’s character then begins to look towards the rising sun, after which the teaser ends.
A new trailer for the long-awaited epic drama film Megalopolis, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, premiered on Saturday.
Coppola, 85, also shared the teaser on his official Instagram account and wrote a short message in which he dedicated his post to his late wife, Eleanor.
The filmmaker and his wife had been married for just over sixty years when she died last month.
He wrote: ‘Megalopolis has always been a film dedicated to my dear wife Eleanor. She was really looking forward to celebrating her birthday together this May 4th. But unfortunately that was not to be, so let me share with everyone a gift in her name.’
Development of Megalopolis began several decades ago and production started and stopped numerous times.
Coppola returned to the project in 2019, when it was revealed that she had entered into talks with Shia LaBeouf, who eventually joined the film’s cast.
In August 2022 it was confirmed that filming would begin later that year and production began that fall.
Megalopolis will center on a super-powered architect who attempts to rebuild New York City into a modernist utopia.
The film will also feature the talent of a cast that includes the likes of Giancarlo Esposito, Aubrey Plaza and Laurence Fishburne.

In addition to directing the film, Coppola wrote the script and is one of the producers on the project.
The filmmaker reportedly spent $120 million of his own funds to finance the film.
