Zippy Fish already stands out among his peers thanks to his unforgettable name, and the budding soccer star is now on the verge of great soccer success.

Fish, 17, has excelled in midfield this season for East Fremantle in the WAFLW competition, and recently had a day off against Peel Thunder.

The teenager with potentially the best name in Australian sport finished with 29 disposals and 12 inside 50s, before kicking two goals for good measure in the 105-point victory.

It was a brilliant performance that more than justified Fish’s status as the AFLW’s potential number one draft pick.

When it comes to her unique name, the young woman revealed that it is actually short for Zipporah, which is of biblical origin.

After growing up in Newman, a Pilbara town about a five-hour drive south of Port Hedland and 13 hours northeast of Perth, it took a while for Zippy to discover his love of Aussie Rules.

Fish added that his favorite positions are with the ball or half back, since he likes to see the action “behind the play.”

She listed her speed and agility as her best assets on the field, and Fish wants to eventually conquer the AFLW.

‘My first sport was actually athletics. I played almost every sport (while at Newman) and then moved to Perth. “I did track, moved on to soccer and then played basketball for a couple of years,” Fish said. AFL.com.au.

—I think my football career started about four years ago. I was watching a couple of friends play at the local club and I thought, ‘Oh, Dad, this seems like a bit of fun.’

Come December, Fish hopes to have her name read for the draft and, away from football, she is studying to be a teacher.
