The lucky pick for a one-off $100-an-hour job at Domino’s Pizza that went viral when it was announced last month has been revealed.

Queensland schoolteacher Matt Strain has been chosen by the fast food company to be its next model after a nationwide search was announced for the coveted position.

Domino’s called in May for someone with “more than 18 years of experience holding pizzas” and who had hands “so clean and soft that you could spread garlic bread with them and lift a maximum of four slices of pizza per hand.”

After hundreds of applicants submitted their videos to the company, Mr. Strain, 39, was chosen as the next model.

Speaking to 9 News Queensland about the role, he joked his hands were “immaculate from hard work”.

“The difficult thing is not modeling the hands, but standing,” Logan’s high school teacher told the program.

The position pays $100 an hour for Mr. Strain’s time.

Domino’s announced that the successful applicant would also spend a day at Domino’s global headquarters in Brisbane modeling the next menu innovation.

Mr Strain’s hands will feature in the new advertising campaign as Domino’s launches its new range of products.

Matthew Baldwin, Domino’s people business partner at ANZ, said the search inspired some very creative applications.

“We had people making shadow puppets… (even) a pair of sneaky feet would appear in the footage,” Baldwin said.

In its initial announcement for the position, Domino’s said the chosen model will also get a tour of its Innovation Kitchen, spend time at the Say Cheese professional photography studio and enjoy a pizza lunch as a thank you for all her handiwork.

“And since this is top-secret material, the successful applicant must also be willing to pinky promise (i.e., sign a confidentiality agreement) that they will not share confidential menu information after their visit,” the ad said .
