A medical student has been charged after a woman suffered life-changing injuries when she was attacked with a noxious substance on the sidewalk of her home.
Milad Rouf, 25, was arrested by detectives investigating the incident in which the woman in her 20s was covered in a noxious substance when she left her home at 4:20 p.m. on May 20.
The woman is in hospital with potentially life-changing injuries.
Police confirmed that Rouf, a medical student, was charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and administering poison with intent to endanger life during the attack in Steine Gardens, Brighton, East Sussex.

A spokesman for the Sussex Police Department said: ‘Anyone with information that would assist our investigation into the attack should report it online or call 101 quoting Operation Overstone.’
Rouf, from Roath, Cardiff, appeared at a special hearing of the Brighton Magistrates Court today.
The attack took place in a small cul-de-sac opposite Brighton Magistrates Court on the evening of 20 May.
Neighbors who lived nearby spoke of their shock at the suspected acid attack, saying the victim must have been the target when she was attacked after opening the door for her attacker.

A resident said the young woman was taken to an ambulance with a blanket over her head.
One said: ‘She was attacked after answering her door to a caller. Then they threw some liquid at her and it went all the way down her face and front.
“It all happened before I got home from work, but there was a real commotion with police, concerned bystanders and an ambulance.
‘I don’t know the lady who lives there, but she is badly injured in every way. I just hope she’s okay.’

Another concerned resident said: ‘You hear about acid attacks on the street, but this sounds like the woman was the target.
‘Although we are quite close to the center of Brighton here, it is a very quiet street and very friendly. I can’t imagine why this happened. It’s shocking, absolutely shocking.’
Sussex Police Detective Sergeant Jennifer Pietersen said: “The victim has suffered multiple serious injuries and is currently undergoing medical treatment.”
