Sebastian Kehl has his hands full in his first year as the new sporting director of Borussia Dortmund. In order to put BVB in the best possible position in terms of sport, Kehl is currently making some personnel changes. Apparently, a confidante of ex-coach Jürgen Klopp is supposed to help the black and yellow, another player who is currently still employed by Borussia will probably have to resign.
Big tidying up and remodeling at BVB: There will obviously be some innovations at Dortmund, both within the sporting leadership, in the team circle and in the support team. “Bild” and “Sport Bild” found out.
Accordingly, sports director Sebastian Kehl wants to install an interface between sports management and the professionals and hire Slaven Stanic for it.
The former second division player is employed in the agency of Marc Kosicke, the advisor to the former BVB coach and current Liverpool team manager Jürgen Klopp, whom he also looks after. Stanic previously worked for the sporting goods manufacturers Puma and Adidas.
In the future, he should take up the position of “sports coordinator” at Borussia, and according to the report, the personnel is about to be completed.
The 48-year-old, who has a large football network, should act as Kehl’s so-called right-hand man by June at the latest.
BVB wants to extend with Reutershahn
While Stanic is coming, a physical trainer will have to go. As “Sport Bild” learned, the contract with fitness coach Johannes Wieber should not be extended. Discussions are apparently already being held with a successor.
Negotiations are also underway in Dortmund with assistant coach Armin Reutershahn. The 63-year-old stepped in at the beginning of the year to replace the sick Peter Hermann, but only has one contract until the end of the season. It is said that Reutershahn should definitely stay longer.
It is still partly unclear who the assistant coach will look after in the coming season. BVB shooting star Jude Bellingham is hotly courted and could leave the club. So far, Kehl is probably still planning two tracks – with and without Bellingham. Means: Apparently no club has yet offered the required 150 million euros for the Englishman.
No new striker for BVB?
While the recently traded Mohammed Kudus (Ajax Amsterdam) and Fabian Rieder (YB Boys) are not an issue according to “Sport Bild”, talks are currently underway with Mats Hummels about extending the contract by a year. However, according to the report, it has not been really concrete so far. Unlike Marco Reus, whose signature is expected shortly.
If Hummels rejects the offer, a new central defender should be brought in. A new striker should not come, however, apparently. One plans with Youssoufa Moukoko and Sébastian Haller.
Sports director Kehl also employs the personnel Raphaël Guerreiro. The working paper of the left defender should be much more performance-related. According to the report, the negotiations are “tough”.
