A McDonald’s worker has revealed why customers should never order from the chain’s McCafé machines.

The staff member claimed in a comment unearthed on Reddit that the machines are “routinely neglected” as employees are not trained to clean them properly, meaning the insides are often filled with “black soot.”

A viral TikTok video, with more than two million views, reposted the comment and dozens of people asked fast food workers which customers should never order at their restaurant.

The 31-response slideshow features three responses from McDonald’s workers.

“I work for McDonald’s and make sure everyone I care about never orders anything that comes out of the ‘McCafe’ machine as they are routinely neglected,” one user wrote in response to user @webaddiedhere.

“Not only are staff not adequately trained in cleaning and maintenance, but at almost every McDonald’s I’ve had experience with, the managers in charge of training them don’t know everything either.”

The Reddit user, who worked at a McDonald’s in Alberta, added that the machines need “special brushes to clean,” but he hadn’t seen any of the restaurants “have the right ones.”

‘All McCafé drinks go through a terribly dirty machine. “We are talking about more than 5 inches of uncleaned liquid b******* that make up its internal parts,” they added.

It attracted responses from a user who claimed to be a McDonald’s employee in Canada and claimed that other beverage appliances were also not cleaned properly.

‘The smoothie machine is not cleaned every day. The beverage dispenser is rarely cleaned properly,” the commenter wrote.

McDonald’s states on its website that it has implemented safety protocols in all of its restaurants.

“Everything we do includes strict food safety standards and protocols, from food sourcing, menu development, packaging and distribution to operating our restaurants,” the site states.

“We are embracing technology and working closely with our expert suppliers and partners to improve efficiency and reduce risk.”

The restaurant also stated in its Food safety page where members also share ‘knowledge internally’ through communication and training.

The employee showed a package of 12 pre-made scrambled egg burgers, 10 pancakes and bags of egg sausage vegetable mix used for breakfast burritos.

According to the user, the only thing McDonald’s workers do with pre-made products is ‘nothing but heat them’.
