Staff at the McDonald’s fast food chain were reportedly subjected to more than 900 assaults last year.

A freedom of information request revealed that workers at 1,270 restaurants across the UK were strangled, beaten, kicked and attacked with chemical sprays.

And it’s not just the staff who have been targeted. Patrons have also been stabbed, beaten and bitten, with most incidents taking place at night.

Weapons to carry out these vicious attacks have included plastic knives, spoons and forks provided by McDonalds, and even condiments such as ketchup.

The figures suggest that there are 17 assaults on employees and customers per week across the country.

A freedom of information request revealed that workers at 1,270 restaurants across the UK were strangled, beaten, kicked and attacked with chemical sprays.

But the actual number is likely to be higher, as only just over half of police forces provided the numbers in the application.

According to the data, the most violent branch was in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, which was the site of 33 muggings in one year.

Cleveland Police confirmed that a customer was stabbed in the arms and legs with a knife in Middlesbrough and in Torquay, Devon, a customer bit another in the face.
