McDonald’s is bringing a popular breakfast item back to U.S. menus after a four-year hiatus.
Bagels were first introduced at McDonald’s in late 2019 but were soon removed when bosses simplified the menu in spring 2020 during the pandemic.
Since they went missing, fans on Twitter, Reddit, and Facebook have been calling for their return.
They are so popular that a Facebook group with 25,000 members has emerged. called Where’s My McDonald’s Bagel?
Their demands have been answered and McDonald’s has confirmed that bagels are back, although they are not yet available nationwide.
They are present in at least 1,700 of the 14,000 restaurants that the fast food chain has in the United States, according to a list that users of the Facebook group update daily as they detect new locations.
McDonald’s is once again offering breakfast bagels in four varieties, including the sausage variant pictured.

When DailyMail.com last checked the list in April, the group had 12,000 members who had discovered 1,200 bagel restaurants. The rise in both numbers shows how the fan base for breakfast bagels is growing.
Fan-favorite items are starting to appear again in restaurants as local franchisees took the opportunity to bring them back.
Clients in California, Pennsylvania, Nashville, So far, they’ve returned to Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Florida, Tennessee, Iowa, West Virginia, California, North Carolina, Ohio, Alabama and New York (the country’s bagel capital).
There are four varieties, all with egg and cheese. Three are with meat (bacon, sausage or steak) and one is just egg and cheese. The bagel with steak has grilled onions.
Prices vary from restaurant to restaurant. Bagels with bacon and sausage are sold for $4.69 in some establishments. Steak is more expensive, at $5.39.
Jared Hefenfinger, administrator of the Facebook group, said‘People in the group share contact information for their local franchisees and say, ‘Hey, message or call these people.’
“I can tell you where they’ll be next, based on where the group is recruiting members. I sent a message to one of the franchisees in Minnesota.
“He told me that in the last three weeks they have received more calls than in the last three years.”
It’s unclear whether the Facebook group was instrumental in getting McDonald’s to bring them back or whether it simply played a role. One likely explanation is that McDonald’s had plans to bring back the bagels and the group’s enthusiasm sped up the process.
Fans reacted with joy on X, the social network formerly known as Twitter.
“McDonald’s bagels are back… the world is healing,” one customer tweeted.
“I’m taking my official victory lap in my four-year war against McDonald’s. Bagels are BACK,” another posted.

‘While bagel sandwiches are not available nationwide, they are a regional offering and are currently available at participating McDonald’s locations in several markets.’
McDonald’s also announced on March 26 that it plans to begin selling fresh Krispy Kreme doughnuts nationwide by the end of 2026.
