McDonald’s has denied an indignant customer’s allegations that he has reduced the size of his cheeseburger – but it has changed the shape of the sandwich.
An unsatisfied customer photographed one that was barely bigger than his thumb and compared his size to that of a cookie.
The fast food giant has been accused over the years of shrinking its hamburgers, but told Daily Mail Australia that they have never changed meat patties.
As part of the innovation and investment process, a spokesperson said they have recently changed the cheeseburger bun.
“The total weight of our hamburgers remains unchanged … The new sandwich is the same weight, with slightly different proportions.
A man shared a photo of his McDonald’s cheeseburger with Reddit and asked if the hamburgers had shrunk
“We haven’t changed the size of our beef patties since the first McDonald’s restaurant opened in Australia in 1971. We still use 100% Aussie beef patties that our customers know and love, “the statement said.
Kelloggs was also forced to defend himself against similar allegations, after several consumers complained that Pringles had shrunk.
A customer said that the recipe was not only changed, but that each chip itself was barely larger than a 50-cent coin.
A Kelloggs spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia that a small adjustment had been made in 2014 to meet production requirements.
“In 2016, we moved the Pringles production for the Australian market to our factory in Malaysia to match the size of their cans,” the spokesman said.
“This was a change from cans of 150 g to cans of 134 g. No further changes have been made since then. “
Although both companies insisted that the products were almost exactly the same as what consumers have known for years and what they love, some people are not satisfied with the change.

In addition to complaints, photos of both the thumb-sized cheeseburger and the Pringle were uploaded to Reddit.
“Have you been out of Maca for a while, cheeseburgers are now cookie-sized?!” the original cheeseburger photo was endorsed.
But hamburgers admitted that the ‘shrinking’ cheeseburgers simply meant that they had to buy more food.
“My secret disgrace is that for my annual trip to Macca’s I buy not one, but two cheese burgers because of this indignation,” someone commented.
“Oh man. I haven’t seen one in 15 years. That is easily half the size, “said a person.
Most responses to the photo of the Pringles indicated that customers had stopped buying the brand and switched to a cheaper alternative to a home brand.
Others weighed by saying that they had noticed a decrease in other burgers on the McDonald’s menu.
Reddit users have suggested that hamburgers have shrunk over the years and show one in comparison to a $ 2 coin
“I noticed that I recently had a quarter-pounder,” another wrote.
“I remember that the fish fillet had a full piece of cheese. They used to be bigger too, I know for sure, “said a third.
In recent years, people have speculated that citizens have become increasingly smaller.
In November 2018, a company spokesperson denied any changes.
“The Big Mac hasn’t changed in size,” she told Daily Mail Australia earlier.
‘In fact it has not changed in weight, height or diameter. The only change we have made is to make the packaging slightly smaller. “
But even after the claims, customers were not convinced, adding the Big Macs also seemed to be smaller.
“Are McDonald’s Big Macs getting smaller? I haven’t had one for more than a year and I swear it was smaller, “a woman complained online.
“Big Macs have become smaller or my hands have become larger,” another added.
