Some of Australia’s most popular pizzas are being pulled from supermarkets across the country after metal was found in them.
The popular McCain brand of frozen pizzas are sold in Woolworths and independent retailers, including IGA, throughout Australia.
They are also sold at Coles and Aldi in New South Wales, ACT, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, Northern Territory and Western Australia, and at Drakes in QLD and South Africa.
Food Standards Australia and New Zealand have issued an alert about the recall, warning consumers not to eat the pizzas.
The affected pizzas are McCain Ham & Pineapple Family Pizza 500g, with a best before date of APR 2025 097, and McCain BBQ Chicken & Pineapple Family Pizza 500g, with a best before date of APR 2025 097 and APR 2025 098.

“Food products containing metal can cause illness or injury if consumed,” the recall notice said.
‘Consumers should not eat these products. Consumers must return products to the place of purchase for a full refund.
“All consumers concerned about their health should consult a doctor.”
The latest food recall comes two weeks after Primo Foods recalled salami sold at Coles, IGA and Woolworths due to the presence of an undeclared allergen.
In April, Frisp Oats Peanut Butter 150g was recalled from all Woolworths stores nationwide after the packaging was found to be missing a warning that the product contained a dairy allergen.
And in March, consumers who had recently purchased dumplings and spring rolls sold at Asian supermarkets in several states were urged to check whether they had been recalled for allergy concerns.
