The French footballer scores his 201st goal for the club, surpassing Edison Cavani’s record.
Kylian Mbappe has become Paris St Germain’s all-time top goalscorer after helping his side extend their Ligue 1 lead to a provisional 11 points in a 4-2 home win against Nantes.
The 24-year-old Mbappé found the back of the net two minutes after stoppage time on Saturday for his 201st goal in all competitions with PSG, improving the goal he shared with Edinson Cavani.
The club organized a short ceremony with a large portrait of Mbappé in the Parc des Princes after the final whistle.
“It is very special to be here. The last time I was here was to announce I was staying (extending his contract). It’s an honor to be here as the club’s top scorer,” said Mbappé. “It’s a privilege to be a PSG player, to play for France’s biggest club in this historic shirt.”
PSG, who travel to Bayern Munich next week in hopes of overcoming a 1-0 deficit in the first leg of the Champions League 16-16, led 2-0 after 17 minutes after a goal from Lionel Messi and a goal of their own goal by Jaouen Hadjam.
The Canaries leveled before the break thanks to Ludovic Blas and Ignatius Ganago.
However, Christophe Galtier’s side took all three points after Danilo’s goal at the hour mark and Mbappé’s last gasp, taking them to 63 points from 26 games.
The second-placed Olympique de Marseille travels to Stade Rennais on Sunday.
