A Southern California woman who disappeared from her nearly three months ago due to alleged marital troubles had to see a divorce attorney the day she disappeared.

Maya Millete, 39, a mother of three, was last seen at her home in Chula Vista near San Diego on the afternoon of Jan. 7.

Maya’s 21-year-old husband, Larry, reported her missing three days later. Investigators noted that Maya’s car was still parked outside the property at the time.

But Maricris Drouaillet, Maya’s sister, has revealed that she made an appointment with a lawyer with the intention of filing for divorce proceedings.

She also revealed that Maya asked her for $ 10,000 the week she disappeared.

“ The date, the scheduled date for a meeting with the divorce attorney, that was Thursday afternoon, ” Maricris told Fox 5

“According to the divorce attorney, she wanted to celebrate her birthday first, her daughter’s birthday was on Sunday, so she wanted to wait.”

The appointment was made for the following Tuesday, but Maya never made it.

Maricris and her husband, Richard, Maya’s brother-in-law, have both been on every search for Maya since the alarm was raised, while her husband, Larry, has not.

It was previously reported that Larry has hired a lawyer and is no longer cooperating with the police in their investigation.

In February, the Drouaillets told DailyMail.com that the couple had been in marital troubles prior to her disappearance.

“It’s been kind of a rocky relationship for a year or two,” Maricris said of her sister’s marriage to Larry. “They even tried marriage counseling.”

‘If we have a meeting, they would argue there … and another time they would be close again. Like oh ok they worked it out. So it was the past year. ‘

Richard added: ‘They argued a lot and it was a bit awkward. It was weird because Larry behaved differently. He didn’t act like Larry. He did different … They were done. The relationship was over. You could just see it. ‘

Chula Vista police searched Maya and Larry’s home about two months ago, but no new information has been released.

‘It is not right. They have CCTV of all neighbors, ”said Richard Drouaillet. They said they have over 100 hours to review, and three months later you’re still looking at those 100 hours – to watch those videos. Something must give. ‘

The family now seems to be getting frustrated with the alleged lack of answers 11 weeks after Maya went missing.

Maricris and Richard even consulted the help of a Cold Case Foundation investigator, who specializes in tracking down missing people and solving murders.

Potential evidence would have been submitted to the Chula Vista Police Department, but the department declined outside help.

“There are thousands of unsolved cases out there, and I don’t know why those thousands are unsolved,” said Richard Little of the Cold Case Foundation. But this one doesn’t have to go unsolved. This one can be fixed. ‘

Last month, volunteers searched swampy trails, hoping to find clues to Maya’s whereabouts.

A voluntary search for local hiking trails in Spring Valley – about 12 miles from Maya’s home – also took place, with dozens of volunteers participating. The group searched a swampy riverbed, hoping to find clues.

‘We want to search more intensively in the quays and not just on the paths themselves. We may want to go down where a body might be missing or hiding, ”Lauren Ireland said Fox 5.

Maricris told DailyMail.com that she has no bad feelings towards Larry and his family.

“I don’t want to cut ties with them,” she said. ‘I don’t want to burn bridges. They are still family. ‘

She previously told NBC7 that she “ can’t imagine ” Larry harming her sister.

Maricris told the news network that she hopes her brother-in-law will join the search for Maya.

Show that you care about my sister. Show that you love her. That’s all I’m asking. ‘

Investigators have said there are currently no individuals interested in the investigation.
