King Charles has become another fan of glamor at Maya Jama after their fun interaction at a Buckingham Palace garden party on Wednesday.
In a scene reminiscent of Geri Halliwell’s infamous interactions with royals over the years, Love Island host Maya Jama made the king laugh as she joked about breaking protocol.
Maya greeted the King, 75, at Wednesday’s event, apologizing for breaking royal protocol by touching him at a Princes’ Trust event years ago and saying: ‘Nice to meet you.’ Well, actually I met you before, a long time ago.
‘About something with the Princes’ Trust and I touched you. She wasn’t supposed to do it. This time I won’t do it.

In a scene reminiscent of Geri Halliwell’s infamous interactions with royalty over the years, Love Island host Maya Jama made the king laugh as she joked about breaking protocol (Geri and Charles stripped naked in 1997).
Laughing, King Charles told her: ‘Don’t worry’ to which she replied: ‘You don’t mind, do you?’
The TV host later took to Instagram to share a text message exchange with her friend. They wrote: ‘Gift that keeps on giving. I love the fact that you said the words, “I touched you, but I wasn’t supposed to” to the King of the United Kingdom. Maya replied: ‘Hahaha. How do you know that’.
To which her friend responded: ‘Mate! It’s on Sky News.
Geri asked for her own royal pardon in 2023, 26 years after she cheekily kissed him on the cheek and caressed his bottom.
The Spice Girls star, 51, has met the King several times over the years and showed off their close relationship with a hug during last year’s meeting after telling him “you are a very modern king”.
In 1997, the Spice Girls met King Charles to celebrate the 21st anniversary of The Prince’s Trust charity, and the infamous meeting saw them Mel B invites royalty to dinner and breaks protocol by giving her a kiss on the cheek.
“You should get your tongue pierced,” he told her, before Emma Bunton asked where Prince William was.
But Geri went a step further and told him ‘you’re very sexy’ and gave him a big kiss with red lipstick on the cheek and a ‘pat’ on the bum.
