Max George was preparing to meet his girlfriend Maisie Smith on Christmas Eve when he finally returned home after being released from hospital following emergency heart surgery.
Earlier this month, The Wanted singer, 36, revealed that he was in hospital after being forced to seek medical help following an undiagnosed heart condition.
He later revealed that he had to stay in hospital due to ongoing heart problems and underwent serious surgery after his condition did not improve.
On Tuesday he told how he had been discharged and admitted he was “bruised and battered” before Christmas Day.
And later, on Christmas Eve, he picked up his story with another clip and said: ‘Merry Christmas everyone!
‘I just wanted to say that I’m back home waiting for my beautiful girlfriend to arrive at some point. Best gift ever: thank you for the love.”

It was revealed earlier this week that Maisie, 23, would be making the 500 mile trip to see him for Christmas.
Earlier on Christmas Eve, he shared: ‘It’s time to come home. The numbers are much better. I feel knackered, I slept a lot today.
But Max revealed he is not completely out of the woods yet, as doctors want to carry out more tests in the coming weeks after finding a problem with his lungs.
‘A few more tests to do in the next few weeks, something to do with my lungs, but that’s the least of my worries at the moment.
“All good, a little battered, bruised and destroyed, but,” he added and gave a thumbs up to the camera.
It comes after Max revealed he would undergo open heart surgery to have a pacemaker fitted.
After doctors performed more tests, Max revealed that he will need to have the device that prevents his heart from beating too slow fitted after they found a problem in the “bottom of his heart.”
Pointing to his chest, he said, “The last thing is, 100 percent, I’m going to put a little buddy in here at some point.”

‘Erm, I have a problem with the bottom of my heart, it’s called a blockage. The complicated thing is what I have put because until I have more evidence we will not know what caused it.’
The Glad You Came hitmaker said it is a ‘mystery’ what has happened to him, although doctors have been able to eliminate some possible causes.
Max, who has battled alcoholism before, said: “We’ve canceled some things, like alcohol for example. I haven’t drunk for four and a half years, so it’s not that.”
“It’s a bit of a mystery really, but that’s the hard thing. It’s the waiting. My heart rate is really low. They’re monitoring it 24/7, everyone’s been amazing.
But the wait is hard. Unfortunately, it’s just one of those things. Whatever I get, I have to move on. We hope for a pacemaker, a pacemaker is good.’
In another recent clip from his well-researched hospital chronicles, the singer shared that he had had a “rough day” in the hospital.
He said: “I’ve had a bit of a difficult day today.
‘My heart rate dropped this morning, which was a bit scary. But everyone here is amazing and they managed to get it back a little bit and stabilize it again, which is great.
“A lot of friends and family ask me why I’m not going to go in and have something done yet, but there are so many tests that need to be done before anything is done.”
“I just need to get through next week and get all the tests done, then they’ll know exactly what to do.”
Max concluded his message by noting that he is determined to remain positive in the midst of this ordeal.
He said: “Obviously they will be able to do something, but it will be better to do it with all the information they need.” But the year is shit. But I’m still here and keeping a positive attitude.”
In his initial Instagram post, Max revealed that he would be spending Christmas in the hospital.
He wrote on Instagram: “Yesterday I felt very bad and they took me to the hospital. Unfortunately, after some tests, they found out that I have some problems with my heart.
‘I have many more tests to determine the extent of the problems and what surgery I will need to recover.
Max has been in a relationship with EastEnders star Maisie since 2022 (seen together)
‘It’s going to be a tough few weeks/months…and Christmas in a hospital bed wasn’t exactly what I had planned!
‘But, as always, I am surrounded by the love and support of my wonderful partner Maisie, her family, my family and friends… and I am 100% in the best place.
‘Although this is a huge shock and certainly a setback, it is something I will face with all my might! I consider myself very lucky that this was detected when it occurred.
‘Sorry if I bore you with updates in the next few weeks… I’ve probably been in bed for a month and there’s not THAT much to do!’
