Maisie Smith was stunned when Max Smith “proposed” on Sunday’s episode of The Chase Celebrity Special.
The former EastEnders actress, 21, took part in the ITV game show this weekend with her The Wanted singer boyfriend, 34.
The couple Maisie and Max surprised host Bradley Walsh, 62, when they revealed they were together, with the presenter asking them: ‘So you’ve known each other before?’, to which Max jokingly replied: ‘Yeah, we’ve known each other for a while . bit.’
When Bradley started asking the pair’s quiz questions, it became clear they were an item, prompting him to say, “I didn’t realize I was so sorry.” Um, so when’s the big day?’
Max surprised everyone, especially Maisie, and replied, “Funny you should say it,” reaching into his pocket as if to get something out.

Maisie was left open-mouthed before bursting into laughter when she realized Max had indeed not taken a ring out of his pocket.
It turned out that Max and Maisie were secretly dating last August, after being spotted kissing on a flight.
The news came just days after it was revealed that Max had split from his on/off girlfriend Stacey Giggs, 43, who was previously married to footballer Ryan Giggs.
Max and Maisie are said to have bonded over the Strictly Come Dancing live tour, after both starring on the show in 2020.
Pop star Max’s proposal joke on The Chase Celebrity Special this week wasn’t the first time he’s joked about his life with movie star Maisie.
They faced backlash when Maisie took to Instagram to pose with her hands on her stomach during a recent trip to Dubai.
She hid her belly behind a heart emoji, while Max looked down in shock, covering his mouth with his hand.
Captioning the photo, Maisie wrote, “We have some very exciting news…”

But in the next post, she revealed that the couple was just joking, writing, “Just had the best five-course meal of my life.”
Max shared the same teasing post on his Instagram Stories, adding the caption, “Look at that beautiful belly.”
While the pair thought their post was hilarious, many of their fans disagreed as they flocked to Twitter to accuse them of being “disgusting” and “insensitive.”
One of them wrote: ‘Pregnancy jokes are not funny and never will be. You hurt a lot of people tonight, fans, with those thoughtless stories. People who have lost children. People who, for whatever reason, cannot get pregnant. Please do better.’

However, despite the backlash from their followers, the pair seemed to lighten up the situation afterwards.
Max took to Instagram again and shared a photo of the couple sipping huge milkshakes.
He captioned, “Never. Eating. Again,” as Maisie shared the photo again.
