Author and DailyMail.com columnist Maureen Callahan’s powerful new biography of the Kennedy family has shot to the top of the bestseller lists within hours of its publication.
‘‘Don’t Ask: The Kennedys and the Women They Destroyed’ It hit stores on Tuesday, July 2, and immediately took the #1 spot on several Amazon sales charts.
In addition to ranking first among books in the site’s “Women in History” section, it also ranked first in the “Biographies of Women” ranking (while the audiobook and e-book editions came in third and fourth).
The book, which was serialised in the Mail last month, also appeared in the top 10 of a number of other bestseller lists, including third place in the prestigious “History” category.
Callahan has already received a number of favorable reviews, including from podcaster Megyn Kelly.
Surprisingly, days before its release and due to a huge number of pre-orders, ‘Ask Not’ became the fifth biggest seller of all new releases on Amazon last week.
Callahan has already received a number of favorable reviews, including from podcaster Megyn Kelly, who described the book as “he ‘The book to read this summer’
“There are so many new and interesting details about this strange family. Believe me, you’ll want to read it and buy it for everyone you know,” Kelly said.
An equally glowing review in The Guardian praised the book as a “revealing exposé”, while Town & Country magazine described it as “a searing, unvarnished account of the scandal”.
Last month, the Mail published four exclusive extracts from the book.
These included shocking new revelations such as: untold details of JFK’s 1963 assassination; his wife Jackie’s second marriage to Aristotle Onassis and the 170-clause prenuptial agreement they negotiated; unearthed claims that could implicate the “womanizing” Kennedys in the death of Marilyn Monroe; and a shocking new theory about the 1999 plane crash that killed JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette.
