Heinz and Mattel’s Barbie have joined forces to launch Heinz Classic Barbiecue sauce in the UK – a limited-edition pink vegan mayonnaise with BBQ sauce.

The sauce follows last year’s continuing Barbiecore trend, with Heinz teasing his fans about whether this dream condiment concoction should come true.

After massive public demand, the sauce has finally come to life and arrives just in time to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Barbie brand.

The exclusive limited edition Barbiecue Heinz Classic sauce is bright pink, just like Barbie herself, and foodies and Barbie fans alike can get their hands on one of 5,000 bottles on the Heinz website starting on April 15.

This will be followed by a limited edition available at Tesco from now and at Ocado and other retailers from May for an RRP of £3.39.

Whether drizzled over a crunchy salad or to liven up your burger, Heinz says this smoky sauce, which achieves its bold hue with beet extract, is the perfect addition to your spring and summer menu.

Before the release, Heinz teased the possibility of a collaboration in the near future and fans went crazy for it.

The response from her fans was overwhelming, with one commenting, “If you make it, I’ll dye my hair pink,” while another said, “Please do this, I’m begging you!” How could we say no?

Thiago Rapp, director of Taste Elevation at Heinz, said: “Barbie won the hearts of Brits again last year, and after seeing the reaction this sauce caused among our fans on social media, we knew we had to make it a reality.

“We’re always looking for ways to innovate and give our fans what they want, and we’re thrilled to be able to bring this iconic partnership with Mattel to life.”

Ruth Henríquez, Director of Consumer Products, Publishing and LBE Mattel EMEA added: ‘This partnership with Heinz opens up another avenue for Barbie fans to bring home the world of Barbie.

‘Last summer we worked quickly with Heinz to bring the prospect of a classic Heinz Barbiecue sauce to life in digital format, so it’s now very exciting to be able to put the physical product in our kitchen cupboards.

“This collaboration embodies the spirit of innovation and fun that Mattel and Heinz are known for, and we can’t wait for fans to enjoy this delicious and unique product.”

For those who want to be one of the first to try this limited edition sauce, but missed the boat, you can wait until May, when several British supermarkets will have stock of the item.

This comes after Heinz formed an unlikely partnership with Absolute Vodka to create a vodka sauce for your pasta of choice (the classic choice is penne).

The brands say they were inspired by the recipe that went viral on TikTok in 2020 during lockdowns, when amateur chefs on the platform shared their own versions of the pasta recipe.

For lovers of the recipe who feel they don’t have time to spend in the kitchen, the limited edition sauce was available in Waitrose last April for just £2.50 per jar.
