Matt Smith has spoken out and shared his dislike for trigger warnings in current films.
The 41-year-old actor said he used to go to local video stores and buy erotic thrillers, like Basic Instinct, to enjoy the movie’s fear factor, but now he’s worried that the movies and shows are losing their audience.
Matt claims that trigger warnings have taken away the sense of a movie being “suspenseful” or “uncomfortable.”
He said The times: ‘I am concerned that everything is becoming simpler and simpler. ‘We tell the audience that they are going to be scared before they see something.’
The House Of Dragons star added: ‘Ah, trigger warnings – the tedious modern idea that adults can’t deal with being disturbed by art. Isn’t the shock, the surprise, the agitation that’s important?’

“It’s a shame that stories are being controlled too much and people are afraid to bring them out because the climate is a certain way. I’m not sure I agree with trigger warnings.”
In May, Matt revealed that when he was offered the lead role in Doctor Who, he almost turned it down.
He told Variety magazine: “For a brief time. But my agent, very quickly, was like, ‘You’re doing it. Thank God.'”
Matt played the Eleventh Doctor from 2010 to 2013 alongside Amy Pond (Karen Gillan).
It began with an appearance at the end of The End of Time, continuing from The Eleventh Hour to The Time of the Doctor.
He also appeared as the Doctor in the 2010 two-part story Death Of The Doctor for the Doctor Who spin-off series The Sarah Jane Adventures and in a cameo in the 2014 episode Deep Breath.
Matt has starred in many successful television shows throughout his successful acting career, including the Game Of Thrones spin-off show, The House Of Dragons.

The first episode garnered significant ratings as it garnered a whopping 10 million viewers, leading to a season 2 renewal just a week after the premiere episode.
Each episode of House of the Dragon season 1 averaged 29 million viewers in the US.
The series is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and is based on the novels Fire & Blood by George RR Martin.
