Matt LeBlanc left his Friends co-stars shocked when he shared how he “ knocked a lump out of his nose ” just hours before his final audition for the show.

The 53-year-old actor who played Joey Tribbiani on the iconic series recalled the nasty drunken accident he suffered while reminiscing with the rest of the cast of Friends: The Reunion.

Speaking to host James Corden and his co-stars, Matt recalled how his friend encouraged him to drink prior to his final audition.

He said, ‘I remember, I was gone several times, I think it was on the last call.

“I went to talk to a friend of mine and he said,” So the show is about being friends and being friends with, you know, just a group of friends? ” I was like “yes a little bit”.

“He says, ‘then we should have a drink.”

Long story short, we woke up in his apartment in the middle of the night and had to go to the bathroom – and I got up too soon.

‘I can’t believe I’m telling this, I got a little darkened like you, fell face first in the toilet and I hit my nose on the bottom of the toilet seat, and a huge chunk of meat came off my nose . ‘

Matt’s co-stars looked shocked at the revelation as the actor continued, ‘I’m looking in the mirror, it’s bleeding, I was like,’ oh my god, I have to go in the big callback ‘and it’s like a big ugly crust on my nose. ‘

The actor’s accident ultimately worked in his favor, as being honest with the show’s creators helped him land the role.

He recalled, ‘Marta Kauffman said,’ What happened to your face? And I was telling the truth … and I got the job. ‘

The casting directors almost went with another actor, Louis Mandylor, for the role who later appeared in the season six episode The One With Unagi.

In the episode, Joey hired fake twins to try and make $ 2,000 at an audition.

His fake twin, Carl, tried to integrate into the Friends group with little success.

Also during the special, Matt recalled dislocating his shoulder while filming the season three episode The One Where No One’s Ready.

The actor had to jump in a chair to annoy Chandler (Matthew Perry) and on the fourth try he slipped and dislocated his shoulder.

Footage of the incident was shown at the reunion, while filming stopped for the rest of the day so Matt could get medical attention.
