The post was to celebrate Star Wars Day on May 4th.

This is an important date for Star Wars fans as ‘May the 4th’ resembles the famous ‘May the Force be with you’ line from the movie.

“Okay, Wookiee is out of the bag,” Matt captioned his photo.

“My journey to hair growth is complete,” he added.

Last month, Matt made a surprise TV appearance on Today Extra, where he looked remarkably different from what he looked like on The Bachelor in 2019.

Viewers would be forgiven if they didn’t recognize the data scientist, who dropped his signature ‘geeky’ glasses and sleek look in favor of luscious long locks and just a hint of stubble.

After clearly unpacking during lockdown, Matt showed off his noticeably muscular physique a crisp white shirt, which he unbuttoned twice to reveal a hint of chest.

Matt had appeared on Today to talk about NASA’s Ingenuity Mars helicopter landing on Mars – but host David Campbell couldn’t help but ask about his new haircut towards the end of the chat.

“Before you go, quickly, how long do you want your hair to grow?” he asked boldly.

“I think I might go up to shoulder length,” Matt laughed. “I’m past that really awkward, awkward stage, so I just have to push.”

When asked if he was in a relationship, he quickly responded with, “I’m single.”

Matt chose chemical engineer Chelsie McLeod as his The Bachelor winner, but their relationship didn’t last.

The pair confirmed their breakup two months after the last air date, and Chelsie later hinted it wasn’t her decision to end things.

Matt said at the time, “Our relationship hasn’t translated from filming to the real, mundane world as we’d hoped.”

He hasn’t publicly dated anyone since the breakup, but Chelsie recently debuted with her model boyfriend Ricki Dehaan.
