Sam Kerr has left football fans salivating after posting a picture on Instagram showing her wearing football boots.
The photo has fueled speculation that the Matildas captain, 30, could appear on the field at the Paris Olympics in July despite tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in her knee in January.
Adding to the intrigue was a separate Instagram story from the Matildas on Thursday, which declared that a “big announcement” was pending, with all to be revealed on Channel 10’s The Project from 6.30pm AEDT.
The Chelsea striker tore her ACL while at a training camp in Morocco in early January, apparently ruling her out of the Olympics.

Adding to the intrigue was an Instagram story from the Matildas, which declared that a “big announcement” was pending, and that all would be revealed on Channel 10’s The Project on Thursday.
His father, Roger Kerr, spoke at the time on behalf of many football fans and said it was “sad news”.
“It was quite disappointing and upsetting, so [have] “I had a couple of restless nights,” she said.
‘I think she’s a little numb. “She had a sort of World Cup injury and now we were all anxious and Australia was looking forward to the Olympics… it’s sad news.”
Typically, it takes six to nine months to recover from an ACL tear, but professional athletes typically take longer to regain their strength and fitness.
Despite recent ridicule on social media, it means Kerr would have to defy medical history to have any chance of playing for the Matildas in Paris.
A few possibilities have been suggested, such as benching Kerr and possibly throwing her into the fray for a brief cameo if Australia reaches the medal rounds.
In a recent interview, Kerr admitted that he is unlikely to participate in the Games, but refused to rule out the possibility of playing.
“Realistically, the Olympics probably won’t be there, but I’m still trying to push myself to get there as soon as possible,” he said. Vogue Magazine.
“It’s probably too soon [for the Olympics] “But I’m trying hard every day to be as strong as I can, as fit as I can be and get back to playing my best football.”
Kerr will almost certainly miss the Paris Olympics through injury, but the key word is “almost” after she refused to completely rule out playing in the Games.

Kerr has pleaded not guilty and a criminal trial is scheduled for February next year.
