Celebrity MasterChef fans have slammed the “most pathetic judges ever” after Friday’s episode, complaining that none of them were recognised.
The BBC show featured Drag Race contestant Kitty Scott-Claus, former EastEnders actor Joe Swash and presenter Riyadh Khalaf, who assisted regular judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace.
And a third joked: ‘Next episode has five ‘who are they’ #CelebrityMasterchef’
The three guest judges were quick to give their opinions on the dishes prepared by This Morning star Craig Doyle, with his venison fillet in plum sauce receiving praise from all.
Kitty called her dish “perfection”, while Joe called the cabbage and bacon “stunning” and Riyadh said he would be “happy” to have a chef serve him the same dish.
Meanwhile, Steps star Ian H Watkins did not receive such universal acclaim from the panel.
Kitty was impressed with the way the sirloin was prepared, but both she and Riyadh complained that the fat needed to be crispier.
Joe joked that he felt a “punch” of a bunch of different flavors at once after trying the garlic mushrooms.
But the Tragedy singer managed to win them over with his chocolate jam pudding, in a nod to the dish his eight-year-old twins Macsen and Cybi love at home.
All three had appeared on the show as contestants, but viewers were quick to criticise their guest appearances.
This morning’s Craig Doyle “absolutely shined” throughout the heat and easily moved into the semi-final.
Steps star Ian ‘H’ Watkins struggled to impress with his steak but won over the judges with his dessert.
But Edith Bowman’s carpaccio dish failed to make the cut, and her aubergine parmigale was deemed “unambitious”.
In the end, both H and Craig made it through to the semi-finals, while Edith Bowman failed to advance with her carpaccio dish.
In the end, her aubergine parmigana was deemed to “lack ambition”, so she promised to “cheer up” her former castmates by bowing out of the episode.
As she left, she hugged both men and admitted she had had a great time on the show although she was “devastated” at being eliminated.
H said: ‘I thought I was lost, I have no words!’ while Craig remained humble and thanked the judges.
