MasterChef Australia’s Minoli Desilva Sent Home After Her ‘Shocking’ Dish Failed To Impress Jury

On Sunday’s episode of MasterChef Australia, Minoli Desilva became the fourth contestant to be sent home.

The technical project manager failed to impress the judges with her sesame crust steak with daikon, yuzu dressing, crunchy enoki mushrooms and pickled radishes.

“I think the court just lacked a bit of clarity for me,” noted judge and fan favorite Callum Hahn.

“ A good dish is being made there, but I think the thing to tie it together – that kind of yuzu vinaigrette – might not have been the right sauce for this dish.

Judge Jock Zonfrillo agreed: ‘Yuzu is a funny thing. You have yuzu as a certain kind of acidity.

And it’s really upsetting with your pickles. And then you have these two different acids really fighting each other. I cannot taste the beef at all. ‘

Minoli ended up in the bottom four, alongside Conor Curran, Maja Veit and Tommy Pham.

This challenge was about three things. Number one – design a dish that would fit one of these three menus. Number two – make whatever that dish is delicious. Number three – do it perfectly, ”Judge Andy Allen began.
