One person was killed and five were injured, including children, in a shooting in Washington, DC, just minutes from the White House.

Around 6:15 p.m., suspects arrived and shot into a crowd in the Carver Langston neighborhood Wednesday night, according to Police Chief Pamela Smith.

Investigators believe the suspects abandoned the car and began shooting at people in the street.

They drove away in a light blue Toyota sedan with no front decals, dark tints and black wheels, police say. The vehicle is “possibly occupied with two shooters inside.”

One man was pronounced dead at the scene, while two men, a woman and a 9-year-old boy were taken by ambulance to local hospitals.

A 12-year-old boy later arrived at a hospital with a gunshot wound and is also believed to be a victim, Smith said.

As of Wednesday afternoon, their conditions were unknown.

Gunfire erupted just four miles from the White House, where President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden were hosting a state dinner for Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his wife.
