Mason Wood was stretchered off during St Kilda’s match against Collingwood in worrying scenes for footy fans.
The Saints star was on the end of a big hit with teammate Zaine Cordy in the first quarter of Thursday night’s game, briefly forced to the turf while receiving medical treatment.
After a lengthy delay, Wood was removed from the playing field and the game continued.
He was taken to hospital as a precaution and replaced by Zak Jones with just under 10 minutes left in the first quarter.
St Kilda said on social media: “Mason Wood left the field after an incident early in the first term. We will provide a further update when we can and provide Mason with the best care possible.

“Fingers crossed for our beloved winger.”
After the match, coach Ross Lyon admitted he was concerned Wood would be out for a while.
“It was quite brave, he knocked himself out and he broke his collarbone, we think it’s not good for him,” Lyon said in his post-match press conference.
“We are worried about him.”
It is the second time Wood has suffered a serious concussion, having been knocked out in a marking contest as a North Melbourne player in 2016.
Footy fans have flocked to X – the social media platform formerly known as Twitter – to send their best wishes to the utility man on his road to recovery.
One fan said: “My heart goes out to Mason Wood. It was nasty and you never want to see that happen to anyone…’
“It was horrible,” another fan added. “I hope Mason Wood is well.”
A third fan said: “Too much courage sometimes. I hope Mason Wood is okay on that stretcher. It didn’t look good.
