Mason Greenwood has reportedly met with Manchester United bosses to discuss his exit from the club.
Erik ten Hag’s side reported to Carrington on Monday to begin their pre-season preparations ahead of their first full campaign since Sir Jim Ratcliffe took charge of football operations.
With the return of the Premier League fast approaching, the club have already begun to identify their transfer targets for the summer.
However, one player who will not continue his career at Old Trafford after spending last season on loan is Greenwood.
According to a report by The athleticGreenwood turned up at United’s training ground on Monday for a brief meeting over his move away from his boyhood club and did not train before leaving.
Mason Greenwood reportedly attended Carrington today for a meeting with Manchester United chiefs.
There are said to have been discussions about a move away from his boyhood club this summer.
Greenwood is said to have had no expectations of training and will not join the squad while his exit is worked out.
Greenwood has not played for United since a 1-0 win over West Ham more than two-and-a-half years ago.
He had previously been charged with attempted rape, assault and coercive behaviour in January 2022 after a series of harrowing images and voice recordings were shared online.
However, the Crown Prosecution Service dropped the charges in February 2023 following the withdrawal of key witnesses. Greenwood has denied any wrongdoing.
United were reported to have considered plans to reinstate him last summer, before eventually abandoning them and allowing him to join La Liga side Getafe on loan.
Several clubs are believed to be interested in the 22-year-old, with Marseille currently said to be his most likely destination.
Greenwood impressed at the Coliseum Stadium, scoring 10 goals and securing six assists in all competitions before being named the club’s player of the season.
Several European clubs remain interested in signing the England international this summer, with Marseille reportedly leading the race to secure his signature this summer.
United have also held talks with Serie A club Lazio over a potential £40m deal including add-ons.
