An elderly masked man has been arrested for robbing a bank at gunpoint.
Gilbert Paul Ware, 86, born before World War II, had just entered a bank in Greenville, South Carolina on Monday morning at 9.30 am, police claimed.
Allegedly he waved a firearm and demanded that shocked employees hand over money.
Employees met his requirements and handed over a secret sum of money.
Ware got back in his car, but managed to escape less quickly.
Police officers from Greenville caught up with the man minutes later, just a few blocks away.
He was found and arrested Ware in South Pleasantburg and East Antrim Drive after the police stopped traffic.
The firearm used in the robbery was recovered, as well as the stolen money.
Ware was arrested and remains in police custody. He has been accused of bank robbery, but more costs are expected to be incurred.
No injuries were reported in the bank robbery incident.
