  • He admitted problems when he began his career in France.

Matildas and Manchester City star Mary Fowler has admitted she took herself too seriously when she started out as a professional footballer and revealed the two jobs she would love to do when her playing career is over.

The 21-year-old has been in brilliant form of late, starring for City in the Champions League, helping to lead them to first place in the Women’s Super League table and looking to be a lynchpin for the Australian team when they take on Switzerland on Saturday .

But when he first played for the Tillies in 2018, aged just 15, his desire to give his all to football went too far.

“When I started and debuted with the national team, I was a super motivated person and very focused on football to the point that anything off the field was a distraction,” he said. Forbes.

‘You feel bad if you eat ice cream, you don’t want to spend a lot of time with your friends because you should concentrate on your job.

“Now I have to be able to laugh on the field and have balance off the field, and that really makes me better.”

Fowler added that he finally realized a change was necessary when playing for Montpellier in France in 2020.

Her teammates asked her to go on road trips and go out with them every week, but she told them she could only go on one outing a month.

“In my head, I thought it was a good amount of time to socialize with people,” he explained.

But as he relaxed and took more breaks from the routine of professional football, his form improved and he scored 10 goals in his 40 appearances for the team.

Fowler has many more years of top-flight football left in her but has already thought about how she would like to make a living once her playing days are behind her.

“It’s always been a dream of mine to open a coffee shop,” he said.

‘I still can’t say I’m very good at making coffee, but I always wanted to open a coffee shop with people in mind.

“I love chatting to people and I love kids, so I’d love to open a space that’s kid- and pet-friendly.”

The other field in which he wants to dedicate himself is fashion design.

“I would love to start my own brand one day,” Fowler explained.

“There have been times where I felt less confident in myself and fashion is something I’ve turned to to help me figure out my stuff and try to rebuild myself.” I’d love to share that feeling with someone else.’

The City star previously spoke about her dream of having children during an appearance at a Sydney kindergarten.

“For me, off the field, my dream is to have kids one day and start a family, so it’s really nice to be able to work with them (the kids) now,” he said.
