Marvin Humes has reflected on his ‘hard’ I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! experience before the new series.
The JLS star, 39, was one of the contestants on last year’s edition of the ITV survival show and was the sixth celebrity to be eliminated.
Marvin had to spend five weeks away from his wife Rochelle Humes and their three children, Alaia, 11, Valentina, seven, and son Blake, four.
Now, just days away from the series’ 2024 launch episode, Marvin has revealed who he’ll be voting for, while also opening up about how the experience affected his family.
Marvin exclusively told MailOnline: ‘I’m A Celebrity was always who I said I would do if asked. It was perfect because any other year I wouldn’t have been able to do it due to radio and JLS commitments. Whereas last year I had six weeks off, which is perfect.
“I mean, it took a big toll on the family. We were gone about five weeks, I think, in total.

Adding that he won’t be taking part in any other long-running reality shows for the time being, he said: “Nothing, nothing in the short term, but never say never in the future.”
When asked about balancing professional and family life, the Kiss FM host candidly explained: “There is no magic formula that we use to do this right.” It can be complicated.
«Usually, between Roch and me, one of us is busier than the other. If I go on tour with JLS, Rochelle will cancel her work commitments and vice versa. It doesn’t always work that way. Of course we have help from family.
‘We try to make sure one of us is present at all times. Sometimes we are both close. We have just returned from a holiday together during October half term, which was lovely spending quality time together.
‘We’re both busy and the kids are busy with school and then after-school clubs. I want to have that quality family time. So yeah, we try to do everything we can and we’re all figuring it out as we go. But we are always doing our best.”
Marvin, who is part of boyband JLS alongside JB Gill, Aston Merrygold and Oritse Williams, added that his family “is the priority” now, and that his career comes second.
‘JLS was number one for us from when we started until we first ended in 2013, like everything was secondary to the band. But obviously our lives have changed now with our wives and our children, they are the priority,” he said.

Speaking about the line-up, Marvin told MailOnline: “One of my friends is there, Melvin. So I will fully support Melvin. Obviously, we know others there, but Rochelle and I are very close to Melvin, so he will get our votes every night.
On Sunday, ITV viewers will see stars including Coleen Rooney, Tulisa Contostavlos, Danny Jones and Melvin Odoom take to the jungle.
Speaking about the 2024 schedule, Marvin told MailOnline: “It’s amazing.” Some massive personalities there. I’ll be glued to it this year. When you’ve spent that time there and been a part of it, it’s nice to look back.
And one of my friends is there, Melvin. So I will fully support Melvin. Obviously, we know others there, but Rochelle and I are very close to Melvin, so he will receive our votes every night.
Offering advice to the new celebrities, Marvin continued: ‘I mean, boring, practical advice when it comes to food, you can’t underestimate how much you appreciate salt, pepper, sugar, seasonings and flavours.
“But I would advise them to just enjoy it.” It goes very fast. And now I look back on it and I’m jealous that they’re going through that because it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life, but the best thing I’ve ever done in my life.”
It comes after Rochelle revealed she received secret texts from I’m A Celebrity producers while her husband Marvin was in the jungle.

Every morning, Rochelle would receive a text describing the upcoming episode so she could decide if the show would be right for her children.
She told The Sun: “I got a text from the producer every morning, as a courtesy, giving me a little synopsis of what will be on that night’s show so I could decide if the kids would watch it.”
“She was also saying, ‘Everything is fine,’ which was very strange, another woman was telling me that my husband is fine!”
The couple enjoyed a memorable reunion towards the end of Marvin’s time on the series, in which they shared a kiss indoors.
Now she uses all of this to remember how much she missed him when he was gone.
He added: “It’s a good way to add a little bit of, ‘Oh my gosh, I really missed you so much.’ I really love you ‘back in your relationship!’

Marvin has recently become an ambassador for Fairy Non Bio’s #LoadsOfKindness campaign ahead of World Kindness Day on November 13.
The #LoadsOfKindness campaign is a partnership between Fairy Non Bio* and PADDINGTON IN PERU that encourages the nation to celebrate kindness and create a wave of good deeds by pledging their acts of kindness on social media.
Speaking to MailOnline about the campaign, Marvin explained: “We live in such a strange world where, for example, on social media, not everyone is always friendly.
‘I think you have to choose your words very carefully in this world. It’s so easy for people to go out of their way to make negative comments about other people who have no idea what’s going on in their lives.
And I think it makes you take a step back and remember how important it is to be kind. And this was a great initiative that came together and people were there making their own promises.
‘I committed to visiting an old friend I hadn’t spoken to in a long time every day. It’s just little things that definitely make the world a better place, that’s for sure.’
Fairy Non Bio has teamed up with Paddington in Peru to celebrate kindness across the UK. Do your own act of kindness on social media using #LoadsOfKindness.
