Martin Roberts has recalled the terrifying moment he “found a dead body” hidden in a bed upstairs at a sold property on Homes Under The Hammer.
The TV presenter and property expert, 61, revealed that during a visit to the Lake District he experienced one of the most shocking moments of his career, which ended with a heartbreaking twist.
He exclusively told MailOnline that while filming an episode in Cumbria, his producer came down from viewing the upstairs of the house with a “ashen face” and revealed to the crew that “there was a dead body in the bed”.
Confused and shocked, Martin and his BBC team tiptoed up to the bedroom where they saw the “body under the sheets”.
But as they stood shakily at the door, Martin explained that the “corpse” began snoring and they soon discovered that “someone forgot his grandfather” and that he was the relative of the previous owner.
Martin told MailOnline: ‘We went to this house, which had clearly been lived in until very recently. Almost like the kettle was still hot and we walked in and then the manager went and had a look.

And she came out with her face absolutely pale. And she said, “There’s a dead body! There’s a dead body in the bed.”
“And we said, ‘Well, that’s the first time, we didn’t see it in the risk assessment.’
‘He said no, no, no. There is a corpse.’
“So we all tiptoed into the bedroom and sure enough, there was a body under the sheet and we were like, ‘We really don’t know how to deal with this.’
And then he started snoring and we nudged him.
“And then this old man sat up straight, toothless, and said, ‘Where is my family?’ and the people had left in such a hurry that they forgot about Grandpa.
‘Grandpa was still sleeping in bed. The family was gone. The house had been sold. Suddenly he encounters a crew filming homes below.
Fortunately, Martin, who spoke to MailOnline on behalf of 10bet. revealed that his family had not moved too far from the original house and once ‘they gave him a cup of tea and calmed him down’ the grandfather was reunited with his family.
