A married day care center, 20, who has had sex with a 13-year-old boy and his baby has been imprisoned after being found guilty of three counts of sexual activity with a child.
Leah Cordice from Windsor, Berkshire, wrongly claimed that the teenager raped her, but a jury from Reading Crown Court rejected her version of the events.
After the verdict, a judge told the court that if Cordice was a man, “custody would be almost inevitable.”
Married daycare worker Leah Cordice, from Windsor, Berkshire, who had sex with a 13-year-old boy and his baby had sent the teenager “I love you” messages on WhatsApp, a court was told
Cordice – who was 17 when she seduced the victim – showed no emotion because the unanimous conviction was expressed today.
Judge Peter Clarke QC then told the jury: “I have to consider a custodial sentence.
“To be sexist about this, if Lea was a young man of 17 years and the complainant was a 13-year-old girl, the punishment would be almost inevitable with regard to custody.
“It is all very unfortunate for everyone, including herself, but I was struck, as I suspect you were, by her lack of self-awareness of what she did to the victim.
Cordice also sent messages to the boy that he didn’t speak to her enough and she thought his new social media photo looked “cute”
“It seems to me that one of the evils here is that the victim will know for the rest of his life that that baby girl is somewhere he knows nothing about and that – I can say as a man – would be like scars for a father as for a mother. That is something I have to take into account and the impact it has had on him. “
Cordice seduced the boy while he was playing on his Xbox in his bedroom, where she had pulled down his pants and asked for sex.
She also sent the teen free text messages and bought him gifts with fish and chips.
The victim goes to court with his parents to see how Cordice is convicted next month and has prepared a victim impact statement.
Cordice, 20, had met the boy twice a month for sex, the Reading Crown Court jury heard
Tara McCarthy, who defended Cordice, said, “This is a very sad situation everywhere, and of course, Your Honor, I will address you in terms of limitation.”
Cordice, who appeared in court in a camouflage jacket and a black top, was released on bail awaiting sentencing.
Judge Clarke said to her: “I need to know more about you and your current circumstances. You must understand that I must consider an immediate custodial sentence. “
He adjourned the case so that a probation report on Cordice could be drawn up. She had sex with the boy twice a month, but the jury decided that the affair had stopped before Cordice turned 18. They acquitted her of two other counts of sexual activity with a child that would have taken place when Cordice was 18.
