Married mother of two reveals that her family feels ‘complete’ in polyamorous mess

A mother of two has described how her family now feels ‘complete’ after she and her husband, after 15 years of marriage, have entered into a polyamorous group with another woman.

Ava Miller, from Washington State, has had an unconventional relationship with her husband Anthony Miller (37) and her fiancee Ashley Welp (24) for about two years.

Ava and Anthony, who married in 2003 and have two sons together, claim that the trio is “head over heels in love with each other,” despite the “strange looks” they often receive when they are in public together.

Ava, 40, said: “I also love my husband and my fiance. We don’t care what society thinks, we are head over heels in love with each other.

“People who judge polyfamilies must realize that we are people like them. Sharing is the best part of polyamory, it makes me so happy.

“We have built a wonderful base together and my family feels complete.”

Ava met her husband, a technical recruiter, for the first time through friends in January 2001 and the couple got married two years later in October.

“I loved Anthony from the moment I met him. He was charming and funny, “she said. “The following year in July 2004 I gave birth to our first son.”

“Then we had another son in 2009 and our family was complete.”

For the next six years, the couple settled in family life – but Ava felt something was missing in her relationship with her husband.

In January 2018, the mother of two made a shocking confession to her partner and told him that she wanted to marry another woman.

She said: “I had always known that I loved women even before we got married. I told Anthony that I was wondering what it would be like to be with another woman or to join us.

“Anthony loved the idea and suddenly we were very excited!”

In February 2018, 15 years after they got married, Ava and Anthony were added to a WhatsApp group with mutual friends.

There they started chatting with primary school teacher Ashley, who had recently moved to their hometown.

Ava added: “We told Ashley that we were married and had a family. She distinguished herself from everyone. She kept joking and she was so nice to talk to.

‘We then set up our own group chat for the three of us and talked every day.

“Me and Anthony were chatting with her on the other side of our couch.”

A month later, Ava and Ashley met for the first time and went shopping at a local mall.

The mother of two said: “Ashley was the prettiest person, it made me so nervous. I loved how vibrant she was, she welcomed me with open arms and made me feel comfortable.

“Then we went home and Anthony cooked us a romantic dinner. We kissed for the first time that evening.

“It felt like we had known Ashley all our lives. It was natural. “

From that moment on, Ava, Anthony and Ashley considered themselves a polyamorous trio.

The throuple initially told the children of Ava and Anthony that Ashley was their friend, but the two boys soon understood the nature of the relationship.

Ava said: ‘First we told the children that Ashley was our friend. They really started to love her and considered her as their nice aunt.

“But a month later the children started to understand. They asked us: “Are you in one of those triangular relationships?”

“We said it was us and they accepted us immediately. I was relieved how relaxed they were. “

In July 2018, Ashley moved to the couple’s parental home and bought a king-sized bed to accommodate her.

Ava said: ‘I am always cold, so I sleep in the middle. Our sex life has no schedule, it is very spontaneous and fun.

“But we prefer it when we are three.”

Anthony and Ava proposed Ashley in August 2018. Despite polygamy – the habit of having more than one man or woman at a time – illegal in the US, the trio are still planning to hold an unofficial wedding ceremony.

The couple gave Ashley a silver wedding ring to represent their love for each other.

Ava admitted that the throuple often gets ‘weird looks’ when they are together in restaurants and the cinema, but just ‘laugh off’.

She said: “We will hold each other’s hands and kiss in public. Sometimes people have given us a strange look, but we just laugh.

“Waiters get very confused at our dining table when we ask for the check. Sometimes we go out with each other while the third person watches the children.

“We do our best to make it right and have time for each other.”
