Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt reportedly split with his 32-year-old girlfriend just weeks after he gave her a pink sapphire ring that caused gripping rumors.
The already-married billionaire, 64, is said to be & # 39; shocked & # 39; have been left behind by claims of Olympic skater Alexandra Duisberg who told friends about their romance, The New York Post reports.
Sources told the Schmidt newspaper – which has a $ 13.2 billion fortune – saw the 10-carat jewel as a & # 39; friendship ring & # 39; and is still married to Wendy, his wife of 39 years.
Former student Duisberg, the same age as his daughter Sophie, had reportedly frozen her eggs and asked the tech boss to fertilize them hoping to start a family together, but he refused.
She would have told friends that Schmidt gave her the Greenland stake and added: & # 39; We want children as soon as possible, but his wife makes it complicated. & # 39;
A source said: & # 39; They have absolutely not spent any time together – things have cooled. They both travel and have not seen each other in recent weeks. & # 39;

Despite being legally married to Wendy, Schmidt has reportedly had relationships with a series of younger women. He is pictured with wife Wendy in 2016
They added: & # 39; It was stupid that he did. It was a friendship ring. It was not an engagement ring. Sometimes he treats people too well, and that leads to [misunderstandings]. & # 39;
Allegedly the two met at a party in 2017 and have since seemingly been inseparable.
Duisberg was born in Guatemala and her parents worked for the US government. She was trained as an Olympic figure skater and after an injury started to change career and went to medical school at the University of Pennsylvania.
She started her residency in Stanford in 2018, but left after less than a year for a & sabbatical to focus on her philanthropic efforts and global health work & # 39 ;, according to a friend.
Since then, she has been on Schmidt's arm at public events for the past two years.
But Schmidt would also have spent time with former Miss Ireland Emma Waldron.
The 30-year-old beauty queen was portrayed with the tech boss at a gala in May and at an event for Nancy Pelosi.
A source said that Emma was Eric's guest because they are working on a technical project together & # 39; and & # 39; know each other from the work & # 39 ;.
But she added: & # 39; Eric is now from the dating scene. & # 39;
Representatives from Duisberg and Schmidt did not comment on reports about their split.
Schmidt has been married to wife Wendy since 1980. They met at the University of Berkeley in the late 1970s and have two adult daughters, Sophie and Alison.
In a 2012 New York Times article it says that the couple often spend time with each other and do not comment on their relationship.

Despite being legally married to Wendy, Schmidt reportedly had relationships with a series of younger women, including a lively television presenter who told him & # 39; Dr. Strangelove & # 39; a public relations director and a Vietnamese concert pianist.
In the past, Schmidt was associated with Lisa Shields, an executive officer for external relations and the Vietnamese pianist Chau-Giang Thi Nguyen.
Meanwhile, Wendy reportedly lives in one of their homes, a $ 23 million townhouse on the water on Nantucket Island, Massachusetts, where she focuses on her philanthropic work.
TV personality Kate Bohner, 52 years old, reportedly had a three-year affair with the married mogul from 2007 to 2010.
At the time, Schmidt was at the height of his power. He was introduced as Google's CEO in 2001 by creators Sergey Brin and Larry Page, who relied on his expertise to turn their modest internet search engine into a global media powerhouse.
An ex-flame from Schmidt said that it is unlikely that the technical powerhouse is interested in establishing itself.
& # 39; I think a lot of women are going out with him who think they will be the next Mrs. Schmidt, & # 39; said the anonymous woman.
& # 39; But he goes out with many women. He likes to have a ship in every port. & # 39;
