Married At First Sight star Richard Sauerman has revealed his one big regret from his time on the dating show.

Richard, 62, was matched with Andrea Thompson as part of Channel Nine’s dating experiment, but the couple decided to split in Sunday’s episode.

Looking back on his time on the programme, Richard admitted there was one comment he wished he had never made.

He memorably shocked his co-stars with a racy remark about his sex life with Andrea, 51, during Intimacy Week.

He said: “We did Intimacy Week the week before Intimacy Week. We watched, we kissed, we fucked, we fucked, we did it all, we did it all.

“I wouldn’t have said that ‘we kissed, we licked…’ comment at the commitment ceremony during Intimacy Week,” Richard said. Women’s Day of his regrets.

Richard also broke his silence over his breakup with photographer Andrea as they finally decided to go their separate ways after days of tension between them.

He said of their relationship: “I can’t speak for Andie, but I tried. I think there was a deeper divide between us that I’m still working on.

He also admitted that he knew going on the reality show would have its challenges, and he said he’s still “navigating it” now.

“MAFS is not for the faint-hearted. I knew it would be difficult, I wanted the challenge and I’m still taking it,” he said, before adding that he wasn’t ready to start dating again yet.

Her comments come after Andrea lifted the lid on her marriage to Richard behind closed doors after sensationally leaving the experiment on Sunday.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Mail Australia, she said she decided to end things with Richard because the couple’s constant arguments were starting to drive her “crazy”.

“The last week has been very traumatic for me to watch this. Your body feels everything you feel again, so it’s a lot and it’s sad,” she explained.

“Seeing our fight end. It was quite hard. In fact, I felt like I was going crazy by the end.

Despite the on-screen drama, Andrea insisted her feelings for Richard were genuine.

“I never said I didn’t like Richie. I always said: “I like you, I’m here, I’m trying.” But of course I would withdraw when the borders were crossed again and again,” she said.

Andrea also expressed disappointment with Richard’s inability to engage in meaningful conversation.

“I just don’t think he was mentally capable of it,” she said. “I actually looked forward to some of the conflicts because everything was going so well and I’m like, ‘ok, let’s see how we can get through the tough times’ and man, they were tough.”

Although they had their ups and downs on the show, Andrea said the two have since reached a peaceful agreement.

“We’re good with each other…I still care about him and I know he still cares about me,” she explained.
