Married At First Sight bride Lucinda Light has revealed her experience on the popular dating show.

In an interview with Daily Mail Australia, Lucinda, 43, shared insights into her experience on MAFS and how she adjusted to life after the show.

Lucinda, who lives in a quiet coastal town along the Great Ocean Road, admitted it feels surreal to be recognised when she travels to bigger cities.

“The amount of opportunities that have been presented to me have exceeded my wildest imaginations,” he said.

“I live in a quiet coastal town, so most of my time is spent doing normal domestic things – cooking, enjoying nature and getting a good night’s sleep. It’s still quite surreal to be recognised when I’m in Melbourne or anywhere else.

“I love the exchange of love in those moments when someone greets me as if I were a long-lost friend. It’s very beautiful, really.

‘The other day I had a cement worker doing some work around the house and he made me laugh so hard with his surprise and joy: “It’s you Lucinda, it’s you!”

Lucinda also spoke candidly about the biggest lesson she learned from the experiment.

‘I loved the whole experience! It was amazing, running the gamut of emotions: it was difficult, hilarious, full of breakthroughs, humiliation, joy, hope and disappointment… everything!

“I loved the entire cast and crew, and every day was a new adventure. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and an absolutely unique experience. What you put into it is what you get out of it!”

How to handle media scrutiny

Managing public attention and media scrutiny can be challenging, but Lucinda has a pragmatic approach.

‘Everyone will always have an opinion; it comes and goes. Take it with a grain of salt. Some of the nasty trolls are AI bots.

“Some of the articles are not true. You can’t please everyone all the time. You have to be yourself, unapologetically,” he explained.

‘Authenticity is what matters: your sincerest attempt at being authentic. Be yourself, be authentic. Don’t be afraid to share your vulnerability, your heart, your everything…’

Personal care

After the show, Lucinda focused on self-care to maintain her mental and emotional health.

‘I came back home, straight into nature, into the forest and the coast, and surrounded myself with my family.

Self-love is the most important thing. Everyone has their own tools for self-regulation, but for me, it’s sleeping well, eating well, being in contact with nature, surrounding myself with people I love and who love me, and getting into the sea (the best thing is to reset myself).

“I also got to interact with people I really respect, taking in the experience with a lot of kindness, and I stayed close to some cast members I love; we have that bond of unique experience together.”

Doing things differently

If she had the chance to do it all over again, Lucinda shared, “I would probably go a little bit slower at first.”

“I have a lot of love to give, but I realize that everyone has a different pace and place, and I could have gotten a little more in tune. I’ve learned a lot.”

Exciting UK tour

Looking to the future, Lucinda is excited about her upcoming UK tour.

“The UK tour is going to be so much fun and there’s going to be so much love and light. I’m so excited!” she enthused.

“Fans can expect a one-woman show featuring stories from my life and the lessons and tools I’ve learned, including from MAFS. It’s immersive, wholesome and there’s a dash of cabaret in there too!”

‘An Evening with Lucinda Light is about emotional intelligence, self-love and how to be the most authentic version of yourself without complexes while being considerate of others. I’ve made a lot of progress in that regard!’
