Lucinda Light has opened up about her regrets after appearing on Married At First Sight earlier this year, admitting she felt blindsided by the experience.

Talking to this week’s guy StellarLucinda, 43, said her decision to join the show was spontaneous and came at a difficult time in her life.

“To be honest, it was a very spontaneous decision,” she revealed, explaining how she came across an online advertisement for the show during a personal and professional crisis in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It was like I’d been given a giant slap in the face by the cosmos for doing something crazy. I was living a very quiet life and I wasn’t feeling very comfortable with my dating prospects,” Lucinda admitted.

In a shocking twist, the reality show sweetheart confessed she had never watched an episode of MAFS before signing up.

“The truth is that I haven’t watched television or connected to that world for a few years,” he said.

Despite her unfamiliarity with the show’s notorious reputation, Lucinda took the risk, only to find it was a steep learning curve.

“It became the best crash course in human behavior I’ve ever taken,” he joked, reflecting on his time in front of the cameras.

Interestingly, Lucinda also noted that the show had been an unexpected learning experience for viewers, with fans of all ages, including teenagers, coming forward to say how much they had learned about relationships from watching it.

“It’s a great educational program because it shows how to build relationships and how not to build relationships,” she said.

This comes after Lucinda recently shared insight into her experience on MAFS and how she has adjusted to life after the show.

Lucinda, who lives in a quiet coastal town along the Great Ocean Road, admitted it feels surreal to be recognised when she travels to bigger cities.

“The amount of opportunities that have come my way have been beyond my wildest imaginations,” she told Daily Mail Australia.

Speaking to the Sunday Telegraph, Lucinda, 43, said her decision to join the show was spontaneous and came at a difficult time in her life.

“I live in a quiet coastal town, so most of my time is spent doing normal domestic things – cooking, enjoying nature and getting a good night’s sleep. It’s still quite surreal to be recognised when I’m in Melbourne or anywhere else.

“I love the exchange of love in those moments when someone greets me as if I were a long-lost friend. It’s very beautiful, really.

‘The other day I had a cement worker doing some work around the house and he made me laugh so hard with his surprise and joy: “It’s you Lucinda, it’s you!”

Lucinda also spoke candidly about the biggest lesson she learned from the experiment.

“I learned some humbling things during my time in the experiment,” he explained.

“It was a huge growth and it continues to be so. One lesson that stands out is not to be so wasteful.”

Reflecting on the overall experience, Lucinda expressed nothing but love and appreciation.

‘I loved the whole experience! It was amazing, running the gamut of emotions: it was difficult, hilarious, full of breakthroughs, humiliation, joy, hope and disappointment… everything!

“I loved the entire cast and crew, and every day was a new adventure. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and an absolutely unique experience. What you put into it is what you get out of it!”
