Married At First Sight’s Natalie Parham has broken her silence after she sensationally quit the show on Monday night after failing to connect with her TV husband Collins Christian.
Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, the 32-year-old opened up about the stark reality of her doomed relationship with Collins and the moment that led to her walking away from her “marriage.”
“I feel good being home, back in my element and feeling more like myself, but it was a pretty tough period,” Natalie confessed.
“It was sad to see myself lose my shine (and) see the life drain from my eyes while Collins was doing monologues.”

“There was no connection,” he stated flatly.
“I wasn’t Blake Lively enough for him,” Natalie revealed, analyzing her audition tape where she revealed the Hollywood actress was her “dream girl.”

“I couldn’t really tell how he was going to make an effort other than offering to play Mario Kart,” he explained.
“It was pretty disappointing considering how much we both sacrificed to be there.
“I just had to call him early, because there was just… no chance of making any connection, even though I made a few extra attempts to come back and chat with him.”

“We went to dinner in Bondi and it was, yeah, more like friendship vibes,” Natalie shared.
Collins’ long gym sessions only increased Natalie’s feelings of isolation and abandonment.
“He would go to the gym for six hours and I would say, ‘Oh, I’ll go take a look at the gym, oh, he’s not there.’ Well, he went out for the day. It’s fine,” she said.

“I feel bad for the guy,” he admitted, acknowledging the possible disappointment Collins might feel about his performance on the show.
“He’s probably watching and, you know, clenching his fists and not happy with how they show him on TV, because I know that probably means a lot to him.
‘I feel bad because if I wanted love, I just had very, very, very high expectations. And yes, he probably feels like he got the worst of it with me.

“As soon as I said, ‘Oh, my dad passed away and I’m sorry,’ he said, ‘Oh, no, that’s too much for me,'” she said.
‘Yes, he’s never been in a relationship, but it doesn’t take much human decency to just ask, “Are you okay? How’s everything going?”‘
Hope for a connection
‘Yes, 100%,’ Natalie stated when asked if a better connection might have changed her mind about leaving the show.
She emphasized the importance of having a support system within the relationship, something Collins lacked.
“If I had a connection with someone, they would have been my support system and my emotions wouldn’t have affected me as much,” Natalie explained.
‘I wouldn’t have felt alone. For example, if someone had been next to me at that first dinner, I wouldn’t have left crying and babbling.”
‘Yes, 100%,’ Natalie stated when asked if a better connection might have changed her mind about leaving the show.
“I’ve never seen that side of Collins.”
Natalie also weighed in on Collins’ epic feud with pundit John Aiken during Sunday’s Commitment Ceremony.
“I wouldn’t say it was funny, I didn’t expect him to go toe-to-toe, and I really didn’t expect Collins to respond as strongly as he did,” she said.
She saw a side of Collins never seen before, marked by a defensive attitude and dramatic gestures that left her resolute in her decision.
“So when I wrote ‘leave,’ I was very happy,” she said.
Natalie also weighed in on Collins’ epic feud with pundit John Aiken during Sunday’s commitment ceremony.
Looking to the future: the meeting and beyond
Natalie is already planning her approach to the meeting, aiming to treat Collins with the kindness she felt was missing at their first dinner.
‘When the meeting comes, I will treat Collins as I wanted to be treated at the first dinner. This is how I’m going to the meeting,’ he said.
And as for another season?
“I would love to give him another chance to see him, but I have to have the guarantee that he will be someone emotionally mature and absolutely ready for a relationship,” he added.
