Married At First Sight’s Selina Chhaur has been on a rollercoaster ride since her first appearance on the popular Channel Nine reality show in 2022.

The 36-year-old star instantly became a fan favorite thanks to her girl-next-door looks and bright, cheerful personality.

But things soon changed when she did made a bold move from the comfort of his hometown of Adelaide to Sydney to pursue post-MAFS opportunities.

And although his career flourished, his social life suffered.

Selina says Sydney people are not as friendly as other Australians and she found it difficult to make friends in Harbor City.

‘I used to have great friends and a bad love life. “Now I have an incredible relationship, but I hardly have any close friends,” he explained.

Selina admitted that the friendships she formed during the show were crucial, given the lack of emotional support after filming.

“You need at least one person you can trust,” he said.

‘It was a huge change, going from a full-time job and stable friends to becoming an influencer and podcaster in a new city.

“It’s hard to know who is genuine and who is in this for their own agenda.”

But the move also sparked Selina’s personal growth.

“Honestly, I think everyone should try moving somewhere new at least once,” he added.

“You can always come home, but sometimes you find a new home, like I did.”

Reflecting on her time on MAFS, Selina admitted that seeing herself on TV made her reconsider her self-image.

Known for her striking bleach blonde hair and bold fashion choices, Selina confessed that she once relied on trends like colored contact lenses to feel confident.

‘I used to think I had to be blonde and have blue eyes to feel confident. But now I’m embracing my natural look. “It’s been empowering,” he said.

“Seeing myself on TV was confronting; sometimes I didn’t even recognize myself.”

The transition to the world of influencers has not been easy either.

‘You need thick skin in this industry. “Everyone tries hard and not everyone has your back,” he explained. “You have to be confident and put in the effort.”

Selina said she was forced to overcome her social anxiety by attending events and talking to new people.

‘During the first year, I made it a point to attend every event and talk to someone new. “It really helped me grow,” he explained.

Despite the challenges, Selina believes her authenticity is what has kept her in the spotlight.

‘I never went to MAFS to be famous; I really wanted to find love. I think that’s why I’ve lasted so long in the media world: people can see when you’re real,’ he insisted.

Her Back to Reality podcast was also a hit, but Selina recently decided to take a break, admitting that the constant drama became overwhelming.

“I was starting to get exhausted. “I love supporting others, but the drama surrounding the show was becoming too much,” she said.

While she doesn't need to go on another dating show after meeting boyfriend Mitchell Diamond, Selina hinted that she hasn't ruled out a return to reality TV.

Now focusing on a ‘soft girl life’, Selina revealed that she is embracing a more relaxed and peaceful lifestyle.

“My partner and I love to travel, so it would be a fun adventure,” he joked.

He also hinted at a possible appearance on The Block as his partner has experience in commercial work.
