British viewers of Married at First Sight were moved to tears during the series’ second episode as Ella came out as transgender after marrying husband Nathanial.
Clinical consultant Ella Morgan, 29, spoke about her crippling fear of rejection before walking down the aisle, recalling times when men had turned her down or even wanted their relationship with her a secret after she told them she was trans.
However, on Tuesday, marketing and events manager Nathanial Valentino, 36, delighted fans of the show by accepting Ella as she was without hesitation, before coming out as pansexual, insisting he was falling in love of the person regardless of their gender.
Last week, MailOnline told how the reality series sparked a ‘fake’ row after claims Nathanial didn’t know he was marrying a trans woman.
The network admitted it informed the groom before the televised ceremony, although he was shocked by the revelation shown in Tuesday night’s episode.

But a Channel 4 spokesperson confirmed to the MailOnline that Nathanial “was informed that the match found for him was a trans woman”.
In a released statement, the network said: “This is the first time MAFS UK has featured a trans bride. So, to ensure fully informed consent, and with the bride’s permission, the groom was informed that the match found for him was a trans woman, after which both parties chose to continue the process.
“In all other ways, the integrity of the format has been preserved. Our priority when matchmaking is to protect the well-being of players and create compatible matches, based on a detailed assessment of individual preferences, in a thorough and careful matchmaking process.
Despite the program being fake, Channel 4 bosses insist a “high duty of care” was put into their match.
