Cracks began to appear in the former golden couple’s romance during Sunday’s engagement ceremony when the groom revealed he wasn’t sure she was the right person for him.
After a hectic homestay, tensions rose further between the couple before the final dinner, with an anxious Eden, 28, admitting she didn’t want to go.
She shared her fears that she and Jayden, 26, would argue or break up over the drama, breaking down in tears as she admitted she was “too scared” to enter the tense group.
After agreeing to go to the party, they were quickly faced with intense questions from the other couples about the status of their relationship, with Eden freezing up in the spotlight.
Married at First Sight stars Eden Harper and Jayden Eynaud left Wednesday night’s dinner party as their relationship reached the breaking point.
After distancing themselves from the others, they spoke privately as Eden struggled with her anxiety, but their relationship reached a breaking point as they failed to get along.
The emotional scenes began earlier in the episode when Eden broke down in tears admitting she didn’t think she could handle going to the party.
In tears, she told Jayden: “I obviously thought I could do it, I can’t. The way I’ve been and the way I’ve felt makes it clear that I can’t handle this. These events give me so much anxiety that it’s no longer worth it to me.
She shared her fears that their relationship would be “ruined” over the questions asked at dinner, with Jayden insisting he still wanted to discuss their issues honestly despite her concerns.
He said: “Going to dinner, if they ask us how it’s going, I have to be honest about it.”
Eden eventually agreed to go to the party, but admitted: “Right now I’m feeling anxious.” I don’t know what Jayden is going to say to the group.
Eden, 28, broke down in tears before dinner as she admitted she didn’t know if she could handle going into a tense group due to her anxiety issues.
“I’m hoping to avoid talking about the problems we had,” she added, sharing her concerns about fighting again with Jayden.
After leaving the table to talk one-on-one, Eden insisted she was fine and urged Jayden to return to the group, but he insisted he wouldn’t leave her for that she was struggling with her anxiety.
“No matter what I do or how hard I try, I can never get it right,” Jayden told the camera.
While Eden explained: “I don’t think Jayden understands, I don’t want to talk about stuff, I want to be alone, I want to go.”
At dinner, the couple were later questioned by their co-stars, but both left the table to speak privately as Eden was overcome by her anxiety.
Eden then told him that she didn’t want to rehash their issues and have another argument, as Jayden was struggling to know how to support her with her anxiety.
Jayden admitted: “I’m a little overwhelmed to be honest because I don’t know how to handle the situation.”
Eden appeared emotional as she admitted she “sometimes” felt like she wasn’t the right person for him, as the couple struggled to communicate.
Overwhelmed, Eden said of continuing the experiment: “I think I can’t really do this. I don’t think I can do this anymore.
But Jayden urged her to make a decision after going back and forth over whether she would stay or go, with experts questioning his way of communicating with her as they watched.
“I’m afraid of a conflict with him because I can’t get out of it once I’m in it,” Eden confessed to the camera.
The two men had difficulty communicating as they seemed unable to understand each other. Eden, very moved, admitted that she did not know if she could continue the experiment.
“Sometimes I feel like he treats me like his opponent rather than his teammate.”
“I can’t get out of this unless I agree and say it’s okay. I feel like I can’t win and I’m in a lose-lose situation,” she added, as scenes showed her breaking up in their tense conversation.
Eden admitted that she cared deeply for Jayden and was worried about damaging their relationship as she seemed determined to make it work with him.
It remains to be seen whether the two men will be able to overcome their issues, as they will be subject to further scrutiny from the experts during Sunday’s commitment ceremony.
