Married At First Sight boyfriend Jono McCullough revealed when he actually started dating co-star Ellie Dix during Monday night’s explosive Reunion Grand Finale.
The 39-year-old health business owner was in the hot seat when the contestants sat on the couch in front of the relationship experts for the last time.
Alessandra Rampolla grilled Jono about the romance he and Ellie struck up behind his girlfriend Lauren Dunn’s back, and the busty cosmetics injector’s boyfriend Ben Walters also shared some revealing details.
When Jono was asked to give the timeline of his relationship with Ellie, 32, he admitted: “About a week after Final Vows I made the decision to reach out to Ellie (about text messages).”
“I wanted to call her and tell her what had happened… I called her and told her that everything had happened,” he added.

“I didn’t want her to come to the meeting and be criticized or taken by surprise by all of this.
“I thought he was going to get angry or worried, but he laughed and said, ‘This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard in my life.’
“Then we talked for an hour and a half… The last three weeks that Ellie and I have been watching have been incredible.”
Despite Jono’s attempts to downplay his interactions with Ellie prior to their relationship, his ex-girlfriend Lauren, 32, was not convinced of his innocence.
Mentioning the secret text messages Jono shared with Ellie after the brunette left the experiment, Lauren said: “The volume of messages… it just seemed like the getting-to-know-you stage where you like each other.”
Despite Jono’s attempts to downplay his interactions with Ellie prior to their relationship, his ex-girlfriend Lauren (pictured) was not convinced of his innocence.
He added: “I made little jokes with Jono throughout the experiment saying, ‘I think Ellie’s in love with you, I think you’re in love with her.'”
But Ellie also told Ben that she thought Jono liked her. So it wasn’t like I was a crazy person pulling this out of nowhere.’
Alessandra agreed that Jono and Ellie’s previous communications didn’t seem good for them and asked Ellie directly if she had a “crush” on him while he was on the show.
“I always thought Jono was handsome, I actually put him in my top four in the face challenge,” Ellie admitted.
“But as everyone knew, I really tried to make my relationship with Ben work on the show.”

Ben, 39, who was initially paired with Ellie before they ended in a brutal split, took the opportunity to reveal his own damning details about his girlfriend and Jono.
“I remember one time we went out and we were working out and Jono had this laser focus during [Ellie] And you guys were just stuck together,” Ben said.
“So it was obvious there was a crush.”
Jono and Ellie sparked drama during Sunday night’s reunion when they finally revealed their relationship with the other couples.
The couple traveled to the party together, holding hands in the car on the way as Jono told Ellie, “I wish I could do this with you throughout the experiment, but it doesn’t matter.”
‘You had to kiss a toad. I had to kill a dragon,” Ellie replied, laughing.
Ben (pictured), who was initially paired with Ellie before they ended things in a brutal split, took the opportunity to reveal his own damning details about his girlfriend and Jono.
Arriving at the dinner four weeks after filming wrapped, the couple walked in hand in hand.
The other contestants were stunned when they arrived, none more so than Jono’s ex-girlfriend Lauren, who claims Ellie ignored her at the party.
‘She left me blank. Girl, I didn’t do anything to you. Like… You’ve got my seconds sloppy,’ Lauren said.
‘You can say hello to me. I don’t have any problem with the girl, but now I do, now it’s a problem. She is just rude. So rude.’
Jono insisted the couple are “very happy”, while Ellie said she felt she had “won Married at First Sight”.
“She has no right to be upset and if she is, I really don’t give a damn.” [bleep]’ Jono said of Lauren, before praising Ellie.
“It was worth crawling through hell over broken glass to end up with this beautiful woman,” he said.
Ellie and Jono are still going strong after filming the show, which wrapped in November last year. The couple appears here at a viewing party on Sunday night.
The couple were invited to talk about their romance as soon as they sat down to dinner.
“Everyone says I look radiant and I say, ‘Yes!’ It’s not just the tan. I’m Jono,” Ellie boasted.
‘I have been so happy. Yes, it has been incredible. We barely spent a day apart. I would not change anything. Can I have a kiss?’ Jono said before the couple kissed.
Ellie and Jono are still going strong after filming the show, which wrapped in November last year.
