Married At First Sight relationship expert Mel Schilling took to Instagram on Friday to share an important health update amid her battle with colon cancer.
The 52-year-old relationship therapist, who announced she had been diagnosed with the disease in December and then underwent successful chemotherapy, shared a radiant photo of herself and revealed she was on the mend.
“My rest and recovery time is working. I’m getting my energy back. I don’t feel sick anymore and I’m starting to feel like ME again,” Mel began.
Schilling looked absolutely radiant in the gorgeous photo, which showed her looking healthy and upbeat as she posed in spectacular style.
The blonde beauty added that now that her energy levels were back, she was once again able to do what she loved.
‘I went kayaking and snorkeling with my family this morning. Sunshine, salt, and beautiful fish.’
This comes after Mel told of the agony she felt before her cancer diagnosis.
Speaking to new! magazine in March, Mel recalled the intense pain she felt while working: “I was doubled over and screaming – the pain was so intense.”
MAFS expert Mel Schilling (pictured) took to Instagram on Friday to share a major update on her health, amid her battle with bowel cancer. The relationship therapist announced that she had been diagnosed with the disease in December and had subsequently successfully undergone chemotherapy.
At first her doctors thought her symptoms were simply constipation, but she soon became concerned after losing her appetite.
On a trip to Ireland with her husband Gareth, Mel said she was in “a lot of pain” and had trouble keeping food or water down.
Knowing something was still wrong, upon returning to London she went to see a gastroenterologist, who was “concerned” by her unexplained weight loss.
Mel had a CT scan and returned a few days later to receive the results, recalling the heartbreaking moment she was told she had cancer.

She said: ‘We were sitting in his office and the doctor had this blank look on his face and I thought, “This doesn’t look right,” and he said, “It’s cancer.” I think I was numb, I didn’t process it and I went into work mode, that was the only thing I could focus on.’
The reality TV host revealed her shocking health battle in December and underwent colon surgery just before the end of the year.
She explained that her tumour, which she named ‘Terry’, was removed by doctors in the UK. However, when the cancer spread through her colon into the muscle, Mel discovered she needed chemotherapy and began treatment at the end of February.
