Nine’s Married at First Sight’s controversial 2024 season has been a smash hit in the UK
Broadcast on Channel 4 sister station E4, the Australian version of the dating show franchise attracted a total of 1.6 million viewers over one week.
The show, which ended its run on the network on April 30, replicated its success Down Under in the UK, becoming E4’s biggest hit yet in 2024.
According TV tonightMAFS Australia was also the highest-rated show across all UK pay and digital TV channels in two key age groups: 16-34 year olds and 25-54 year olds.
The figures do not include viewers who watch the show on devices such as desktops, laptops, tablets and phones.

Meanwhile, MAFS Australia came in second behind MAFS UK in total number of views.
The Australian version achieved its biggest success as E4’s top show so far in 2024 in consolidated and live ratings (which refers to the total number of viewers who watched it).
MAFS Australia had its largest audience among those aged 25 to 54, with 950,000 viewers tuning in over seven days.

E4, is aimed at young people aged 16 to 34 and is a multi-channel of the British commercial broadcaster Channel 4.
In Australia, the MAFS finale, broadcast in April, garnered a huge national average audience of 1,731,000.
It comes after the cast of this year’s Married At First Sight were disappointed to have failed to find fame after appearing on Nine’s ratings juggernaut.
The 2024 contestants are “furious” that they haven’t built up a social media following during their time on the show and are now frantically looking for ways to make money after quitting their day jobs when production was underway.
According to TV Tonight, MAFS Australia was also the highest-rated show across all UK pay-TV and digital channels in two key age groups: 16-34 year olds and 25-54 year olds.
According to Yahoo Lifestyle, viewers of the Channel Nine series “have not warmed to the contestants like in previous years” and most of the cast members have not gained enough social media followers to become full-time influencers.
A source told the outlet that many brides and grooms were “banking” on their television appearance to become famous.
The only star to have received a significant growing fan base is Byron Bay native and fan favorite Lucinda Light, who has 139,000 followers on Instagram as of March 19.
