The change.org petition, launched on Wednesday, now has 4,340 signatories starting at 1 p.m. on Thursday, with a target of 5,000.

In a statement to Daily Mail Australia, Channel Manager Tanya Orman from NITV said that the show has been an important part of network planning for the past 12 years.

The Marngrook Footy Show has undergone programming changes since it was first broadcast in 2007. In 2011 and 2012, it was screened for ABC2, before returning to NITV in 2013.
