Marks & Spencer bosses have hailed signs of progress in its online partnership with Ocado.

At the retailer’s annual meeting last year, chairman Archie Norman said he was “not happy” with the performance of the Ocado Retail joint venture, which is owned 50:50 by M&S and Ocado.

But at yesterday’s meeting, Norman said he was now “not unhappy” following signs of recovery at Ocado Retail.

M&S chief executive Stuart Machin echoed his chairman’s comments, highlighting that more M&S products had been added to Ocado.

Norman added: “A joint venture is always hard work, there are always little friction points, etc.”
