Mark Wahlberg says his family’s move from LA to Las Vegas ‘has been great’

Date:

Mark Wahlberg and wife Rhea Durham have no regrets about moving their family from Los Angeles to Las Vegas last year.

Six months after going public about packing up and leaving Southern California, the longtime Hollywood protagonist confessed that the change was partly all about giving their four kids new resources to pursue their goals and dreams.

“They love Vegas,” Wahlberg said E! News from daughters Ella, 19, and Grace, 13, and sons Michael, 17, Brendan, 14, adding: ‘I’ve spent a lot of time in LA pursuing my interests and my career and now it’s time for them to to chase after them.’

The Las Vegas Valley region has provided benefits for his children’s dreams and hobbies, including Grace as a nationally ranked equestrian, Michael’s passion for basketball, and Brendan’s love of golf.

The change of scenery has also given Wahlberg and Durham “a fresh new start.”

The Instant Family star has also been able to enjoy some of the perks that Sin City offers in terms of entertainment.

“I saw Adele, I saw Bruno Mars. I’ve seen quite a few shows and been to a lot of great restaurants,” the Boston, Massachusetts native shared, adding, “There’s so much to do in Vegas and it’s so exciting.”

In October, while appearing on The Talk, Wahlberg revealed that he would like to see a day in the near future where Vegas can be another version of Hollywood, in regards to his work as an actor, writer and producer.

For that to happen, he says, a bill needs to be passed “so we can get state tax credits, build a state-of-the-art studio here and make this Hollywood 2.0.”

“I want to be able to work from home,” the Boogie Nights star continued, adding that he’s home “any free time.”

Since moving to Vegas, the couple has been sharing photos and videos of the various family milestones and events that are featured locally on social media.

Durham, 44, shared photos of son Michael enjoying his first car after celebrating his 17th birthday last month, standing next to an all-black Ford Bronco.

The couple dropped Ella off at Clemson University in South Carolina earlier in January, and the emotions behind their firstborn going off to college was documented in another video.
