Mark Wahlberg offers to donate his thumb to get injured Astros star Jose Altuve back on the field

Mark Wahlberg offers to donate his thumb to bring injured Astros star Jose Altuve back to the field because he’s a “huge fan” of second baseman and “favorite Yankee hitman” Alex Bregman

Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg is willing to make a huge sacrifice to help the Houston Astros, or at least to help see them beat the New York Yankees again.

Wahlberg was attending the Astros’ season-opener Thursday, which featured an unexpected loss to the Chicago White Sox, when he said he would donate his thumb to injured star Jose Altuve.

When asked how he would present “Play Ball!”, Wahlberg replied. Call before Thursday’s game.

“I’m also willing to donate any of my thumbs to Jose Altuve for sure… I’m a huge fan.”

Altuve is currently sidelined for an extended period of time after undergoing surgery for a broken thumb suffered during the World Baseball Classic.

Although Wahlberg is a Boston native and a lifelong Red Sox fan, he’s found himself rooting for the Astros more than ever since they swept the Yankees in the American League Championship Series last season.

The A-list star also paid tribute to the Astros’ “Yankee Killer” Alex Bregman.

“He’s a great guy and he’s also my favorite Yankee killer ever,” Wahlberg told reporters before the game began.

I’ve been a huge fan of him for a while. We have become close friends.

I’m just here to support him. I was rooting for him all the way through, of course, when the Red Sox came out, you know, I was right on the Astros bandwagon. Of course, once they were swept by the Yankees, he became my favorite Yankee killer.

“I’m a fan of the Astros,” Wahlberg continued. “Listen, I live in Nevada now, I’m a real talent fan.” And you know what, they have a great team, and he’s got amazing talent, but he’s also an amazing person, so I’m a huge fan of him, especially.

Wahlberg and the rest of the Houston fanbase are certainly hoping the Astros can rebound from last night’s defeat that saw Andrew Vaughn’s tie-breaker, with two runs in the ninth inning, lift Chicago to a 3-2 victory over the defending World Series champions.

The Astros also had Houston native and three-time Grammy Award winner Megan Thee Stallion throw the first pitch in Thursday’s opener to start the title celebration and defense.
