Marjorie Taylor Greene launches bid to REMOVE Speaker Mike Johnson from office as she files motion to vacate in fury over forcing vote on massive $1.2trillion funding bill

Firebrand Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has launched a bid to oust Speaker Mike Johnson by filing a motion to resign, furious over the $1.2 trillion spending bill.

Republican House conservatives fought furiously when Johnson released the package intended to keep the government funded in the middle of the night and gave them a day to read it before the vote.

The 1,000-page spending deal was the result of lengthy negotiations between Republican President Mike Johnson, Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and White House officials.

Hardliners criticized the bill for providing billions of dollars — funding for lawmakers’ pet projects in their home districts — as fiscally irresponsible.

After filing the motion, Greene told reporters that this action serves as a warning to President Johnson – and that a vote on it will not take place immediately.

“I do not wish to inflict pain on our conference and throw the House into chaos,” she said.

“But this is fundamentally a warning and it’s time for us to follow the process, take our time and find a new Speaker of the House who will stand with the Republicans and our Republican majority instead of stand with the Democrats.”

“Johnson betrayed that by passing three CRs and then forcing us to pass or vote on a two-part omnibus, the second being today’s,” Greene added.

“This bill was basically a dream and a wish list for Democrats and for the White House,” Greene added.

It’s unclear which, if any, Republicans would join her in her bid to oust Johnson.

Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., who opposed the spending bill and voted to oust Speaker McCarthy, told DailyMail.com he would not vote for a motion to oust Johnson.

“If we do that, it’s just going to give the hammer to Hakeem Jeffries,” he said.

Rep. Ralph Norman, a right-wing member of South Carolina’s Freedom Caucus, said “we’ll see” when asked if he would support it.
